Just got my new M&P 9mm and for the life of me I cannot get the frame tool out. It moves slightly but cannot get it to go the required 1/4 turn.

Mine was so tight I used needle-nose pliers to get it out the first time - and I didn't booger it up. It will get easier to turn over time (or you can just use a car key to push the sear lever down).

I never turn it or remove the device. The more you use it, the looser it gets. You can disassemble easily without the onboard tool. A bic pen, a pencil, a pinky finger (make sure the slide is really locked back) all work fine. Then for the really adventurous, there is the non-approved method that does not require any tool of any kind. While not factory approved, it will not harm the pistol at all. It will only harm you, someone you love or some property if improperly done. If using that method, you MUST make sure it is UNLOADED. Triple check. I do NOT recommend that latter method. Use a tool. Just not the onboard tool.

Yep, it's just really really tight. I keep a pair of allen wrenches in my bag in case I have to remove the grips off my 1911 or M9. They work just fine.
