Hi everybody!
I've been reading this forum for a few weeks and thought I'd join up. I've been shooting since I was 5 and reloading since I was 19. My first Smith & Wesson was a Model 1000 20 gauge shotgun that I got for my 12th birthday and it's still in near mint condition nearly 32 years later.
My Daddy was a big fan of S&W, and once the handgunning bug bit me, it wasn't long until I wanted to gather up a few for myself.
About 4 weeks ago, I picked up my latest Smith. It was a K-22 from the mid-50's that was supposedly NIB. If it has been fired, it hasn't been fired very many times. (Unfortunately there's a blemish on the frame above the cylinder.) My buddy with me got a Model 17 one row over from the early 60's for the same price, but no box or papers. His looks to be lightly used and in great shape.
Getting a new gun always perks up my interest level, so I went shooting with some co-workers the next weekend and finally sighted in and shot my Model 41 that I bought back in 2005. After shooting that, I started wanting to learn more about the Model 41 and stumbled upon this forum. Last weekend, I picked up The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson and have been studying it after learning about it on this forum. It's a great book.
I have a modest collection of Smiths (10, pre 17, 41, 52, 53, 57, 629, 686, and 1000). I want to learn more about these guns and continue to build my collection.
