Hello S&W fam! New here, but have owned several different S&W firearms through the years. But I bought a M&P15, & it has the troy trx handrail (13") & has the magpul accessories that came on it. But my ? is, does that mean this is a TS model? Also, what are some good optics for it, that will sit high enough to still use the mbus flip up sights? (Optics for atleast 500 yds or so?) Because yes, as you see, somebody put a scope right in front of the flip up sights, so I need risers, or would 45 deg offset mounts work better for the flip ups and leave scope as it is? I've heard it's pretty accurate up to 800 or more depending on skill obviously lol thanks in advance and stay safe out there!

Pretty accurate up your 266 yards maybe or 300 depending on ammo but not at 800 yards . But that may depend on what accurate is to you !

Our are 12 year old mixed part home assembled AR15's and priced are higher currently . . My wifes carbine has a set of flip up sights under her 1x8x24mm scope thats mounted on a QD one piece mount . If the scope is non-functional removing is very easy and quick to do so you can use your flip up's .

I run a 2.5-10x42 scope on a aero precision mount . I have a small enclosed emitter dot on a 45* mount but honestly I have removed it . remounted several times to check the poaand find it good enough and keep in in my day pack ! I used one old 2.5-10x40 since '71 and its still good to go so for me back up sights are not mounted . I also have a no longer available green , ir and light combo that would be a back up "sight " option .

There most be 30 to 50 combo's you can apply to your carbine with optics back up sights and laser lights . Getta decide what you want to use .

Nice! And thanks a ton for the info! What brand is the one you've had since 71 though? Lol to still be reliable enough at that age is either impressive construction OR you've maintained it well lol

Oh yeah, meant to ask if you possibly know a reputable site that could possibly give me a rough estimate on the value of another AR (pistol/sbr) I have had for several years, but has less than 250 rounds through it over the years.. (it's a CBC Industries AR 5.56/.223) bc i have searched EVERY where & can't find a complete build, only uppers & 1 that's a lot diff..

CBC Industries SBR

This is the CBC AR pistol/SBR. Can't find any in this bronze finish with the 10.5" barrel.. just curious what kind of price i should ask for it.. what's your personal opinion, if u don't mind me asking? Lol

Off-brand AR rifles take a beating on resale. If someone offered me $350 for it, I'd take it & run.

One can buy new ARs now for $400-450. That's what you're competing with.

I own an M&P15X which came with an M&P Branded Troy Battle Rail and Troy Battle Sights.

I outfitted mine with a Vortex Spitfire 1x Prism Scope, which lines up with the sights quite nicely.

That rifle scope is a Burris 2.5-10x40 on a rem 788 in 308 and I was not easy on it . Grew up hunting in SF FL swamps back in my younger days then alabama and georgia but both the rifle and scope look real nice today . I did send the scope in to burris to check out about 6 years ago and it came back untouched with a letter says it was in spec .

You might as well keep the CBC as your house gun as there worth today very low .
