We just got approval in MA to sell the new model 10. This looks to be a pencil barrel with no lock. I don't see anyone out there talking about this gun. Does anyone have any experience with it?

I would inspect a new one very carefully before purchasing. S&W does not seem to be great at putting together good revolvers these days, I don't care what some author says in a gun magazine. Given the cost of a new one versus the cost of a gently used older one, I'd be more inclined to buy an older one.

Fifty years ago I was in a hunting camp in Maine. The owner was really pissed at an outdoor writer from one of the popular magazines at the time. He did a big article on bear hunting naming the lodge. He included a photo of the 600 pound bear he killed. Problem was it was a stuffed bear taken from the lodge and placed in the woods for a photo-op.

I stood there looking at the magazine and the mounted walking bear. Yup, same one. What pissed the owner off mostly was the fact that the real, now dead bear, was nowhere near 600 lbs. and astute hunters would know it. He didn't want his lodge involved in this outdoor tale.

He also wanted all the rifles sighted in for 25 yards. He had a little range across the road to check the shooters. He was not impressed with the shooting skills of the writer either.

I have one, it's very nice. Comes with smooth walnut Magnas, which look great, but I put on some vintage looking Thais for a more 30's kind of look. Put the magnas on a 10 heavy barrel, just because I can. Price on these is not cheap, or really even reasonable but I collect Tens and it fill a niche in the collection. Don't regret buying it.

As would I, but I'm always out bid on gun sites and I'm unable to find them readily in local shops.

My local guy was able to find mine at one of his distributors. I think these might be allocated. He called me and asked if I wanted one and said don't wait. Another local does have one in his case.

Curious how many of these Smith is going to produce. Is this a one off run or will in be in more or less regular production.
