New model F-150: convertible

I think it awesome.
I'd never own one but its still awesome.
Have you driven a Ford lately?

Oddly, VW did an April Fool's gag, saying that since they were moving into electric vehicles, they were gonna change their name to Voltswagon. For some reason, this made people very unhappy, and now they are regretting the joke. Apparently, a colossal blunder.

But, I don't get it ... why?

Actually, I like the look of that convertible F-150. Since most people who buy pickups don't really need pickups anyway, and buy 'em for style, why not manufacture a convertible pick up?

"Ford is currently taking $3,000 non-refundable deposits for the 2022 Ford F-150, and expects pricing to start at around $80,000 for entry level XLT SuperCab models. The optional automatic power-folding soft-top is a $25,000 option."

Nice, but for those prices it should come with 3 bedrooms, couple of bathrooms, and attached garage on an acre of good real estate.

I'm gonna guess that you haven't bought a house lately. ;)

Several years ago we had a local newspaper columnist that did and April Fools Day gag story about those south Florida Burmese Pythons moving into a nearby lake. It had the typical pictures that you see of the things with it taking a half a dozen strong men to hold a dead one, etc.

At the end of the story it even said something along the lines of this is a story of “humorous fabrication.”

The story caused such an uproar that the newspaper had to print a full retraction and to do so for several days. Phones rang off the hook with people calling the newspaper, the reporter, game and fish, police—there were complaints to every local official I think including Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

I knew one of the editors at the paper and he told me—NEVER again. I think the stories like this of these gags going awry are numerous. I can’t imagine any big company trying this. But I suspect that they feel any publicity, good or bad, is better than no publicity.

It states at the end of the advertisement that it's an April Fool joke. Why would a person of even half normal intelligence think it's a real advertisement? The sad part is that they are voting and reproducing. Larry

Gotta scratch my po ol haid when I think of somebody putting down $20,000 on a new PU still owing $60,000.
