New Mold came yesterday

I had ordered a 55 gr. 22 cal. double cavity Lee mold from Mid-South Shooters Sup on 3-30-09 it was a special order should have been available on 9-24-09 and it showed up yesterday it really looks good, havent cast any but the price was 18.08. They called it a 22 Bator will try it in a .223 or a 22-250 it takes a gas check and it looks good. Jeff

I dont see any 22 bullet molds in the catalog. You special ordered this for 18 bucks?

Do you have a mold number ? I too would be interested in this mold .

Please post results and let us know how it works. I have considered casting .223 but then decided against it on account of the necessity and cost of gas checks. For all that trouble I'd sooner buy FMJ.

I emailed them , asking if they sold a mold for a heavier .22 bullet ?

Thinking about trying a cast bullet for an AR ? I have an old Lyman book that lists a 4227 load that they say will cycle an AR ?

When you go to the Midsouth shooting supplies web site go to the reloading part click on bullet casting then on lead bullet castings at the bottom of the left hand side of the page that comes up will be a heading that shows special order molds you will find it there, there is only the one 22 55gr for 18.08 this is a double cavity mold but the wait can be a long time. Jeff Just clicked on the comment above this one and it shows they are in stock they are well worth 18.08

I bought two of them earlier this week. They arrived on Saturday and I tried one today. Its cast good bullets, though this is my first experience with .224 casting-those suckers are small! I'm looking forward to trying them out, but I think I am going to have to cast them with harder alloy than air cooled wheel weights.
