Finally got to take my new acquisition out to the range this weekend. Ended up putting about 300 rounds in two visits and am really liking the results.

No FTFs, FTEs or anything of the kind. Shot perfectly without having been lubed before going to the range. It now has gotten a well-deserved "bath"!

Mine has the manual safety and I also installed the Apex DCAEK drop in parts. Really glad I did as the pull is smooth and the reset is deliberate.

I also put on the Crimson Trace grip by Dremel-ing off the right side safety paddle. My preference was to do that vs. removing the entire safety.

For my relatively limited experience, these target results are pretty good for me (7 yards). THANKS APEX TACTICAL (oh, and S&W too)! The fact that a guy a couple rows down was shooting .454 Casull didn't help, but I'll still take these holes for it being the first time I shot my M&P.

Your targets look fine for self-defense range, and you'll only get better with more practice. Double hearing protection is highly recommended when big bore revolvers and ARs are on the firing line. The extreme noise can really exacerbate your flinch and of course harm your ears. Enjoy your new gun.

I traded a SR9c in for that exact gun and I also could not be happier. I have a rail mounted laser and wish I had waited for the unit you have. Might just have to turn this one into a expensive cat toy. Can you tell me what size palm swell the Crimson Trace is? I have the med grip on my 45 and it feels perfect. Congratulations on a great gun, I might be a bit partial, and hope you have many more great days at the range.
Best, Frank.

Thanks for the sentiments.

The CT grip is at least as big as the M&P medium size grip but not as big as the large. Somewhere in between I'd say.

I have the 45c and it has some Apex magic in it. Great gun, always pleasantly surprised at it's accuracy.

I've had my 45c for more than a year and it continues to shoot well. It's best compliment is when I let a dyed in the wool Glock shooter try it out at the range and two weeks later he was sporting his new M&P45c. He carried a Glock 23 as a LEO for ten years, but He gave it up for the M&P 45c.

Yeah, that's what I'm going for. I don't see myself needing to take out a BG at 75 feet in my house. Although, at some point, it would be fun to be able to improve my longer range accuracy.

I sent my 45FS to Boresight Solutions for stippling and installation of XS sights. I've proceeded to shoot the heck out of it, which has really helped the somewhat iffy out-of-the-box trigger. I may, out of curiosity, try the Apex parts, too, but for now I can't say I could be happier with it!

Enjoy your M&P!

Trigger control and flinch are the biggest things to work on. We all have a flinch, we all jerk the trigger occasionally. This can only be brought under control through practice. A regimen of dry fire practice will do wonders, it's free and you can do it at home. Also there are lots of good, low cost 1911-style 22 pistols on the market right now. Starting your range session with 50 or 100 rounds or 22lr will cost you almost nothing, and make those expensive 45 rounds go a lot farther when you switch over to the big gun.

I have been eyeing the M&P .45 Full Size but they are not easy to find down here. I like them with the manual thumb safety.

I have been impressed with both the reliability and accuracy of my ful size M&P45. It has performed flawlessly with 185 gr. LSWC, 185 and 230 gr. plated, 185 and 230 gr. JHP and 230 gr. FMJ bullets.
