Hello, I am a new Watertown, NY member. I just got back from Afghanistan a couple of months ago and purchased the S&W M&P 15-22 along with a couple other handguns for home protection. I will post pictures of my rifle as I have put a lot of accessories on it. I am a purple heart, combat veteran and look forward to asking some questions on here and getting some good answers.

Matt

Welcome to the forum i also have a 15-22 but the main reason im replying is my mom was born in watertown and i still have relatives there. maybe you know them i can send thier name if your interrested

First and FOREMOST .. THANKS for your service! It is DEEPLY appreciated! That is something NOT said enough to veterans now days'! Secondly welcome to the forums. This place is a wealth of knowledge and overly freindly members that are ALWAYS willing to help regardless of the problem with the weapon. And the BEST thing is this site is a rarity, as ALL members conduct themselves as adults, and not that immature crap alot of sites are riddled with. Welcome aboard. Looking forward to your pics in the picture thread. You may want to do as I did when I first joined... thats to start on page 1 of the picture thread and litteraly go through them all, as there is ALOT of cool rifles in there, and it gives alot of ideas that you may not have thought of.

Granted it has alot of non picture post, but for the most part its very helpfull. As alot of picture posts have the picture itself and under it what is on it incase a member wants to get that same gear for theirself.

forgive my ignorance but where exactly is the picture forum located? today is my first day on the forum

There is no need for apology. It changes, as all of them do. The reason for this is the newest postings in any thread comes to the top of the first page, just under the topics that have been made into a sticky thread. If its been a while since someone has posted in it, it gets shifted down, possibly on the 2nd or 3rd page. This allows only the newest topics to be posted and replied to. Even if it goes a few pages back, as soon as any one posts in it or any other thread, as I said it comes back to the top of the first page.

Also be SURE to check out the instructional video section that is ALWAYS on the top of page 1. It has youtube videos made by our members that are helpfull in alot of aspects. This ranges from field stripping and cleaning, to optics, trigger replacement jobs, general upkeeping and lubing, etc etc. There is also a 15 22 specific classifed section for anything any members have to sale or trade or wants to buy for their rifle. Think of it as a free listing tool for members. Man I need to be a moderator, joke lol.

Ebay.. and its fake. 15 bucks shipped. Its nothing more than a screw on "wannabe" lol. I have 2 sets of pics, the last set is the newest/recent pics as I had upgraded a few things, scope, magpul XTM rails etc etc. Glad I could be of help. One thing I noticed is the tape you have on your vertical grip at the top and bottom of the pressure pad. If you look you and I have the EXACT same grip. A good way to get around the tape is put a small strip velcro in the removable grooves of the handle, and the other part of the velcro to the backside of laser and light's pressure pad. Lastly, If you look close my cable for my switch runs INSIDE the barrel rails. I did this by giving a protective few wraps of electrical tape, and then run it threw the rails, on the underside/lowest holes to the other side of the Vertical grip. This allowed me to NOT have all that extra cable to be snagged on something or get torn off. The tape allows for the cable to NOT be melted from excessive shooting, and takes up a few extra inches of excessive cable flopping around..and has withstood a few thousand rounds so far. I checked it the other day and the electrical tape isnt even bothered or moved at all. And its still about 1/2 inch under the bottom of the barrel, just where I placed it.

that is awesome!!! do you know what to search for in ebay for the silencer? and i'll have to hide the cables tonight! my wife hates when i spend time on the rifle haha.

I just looked for fake suppressor. You need one that is 1/2 28 thread and your good to go. Other sites have them, even amazon.com.. no joke lol. Check out Belt_fed he does INCREDIBLE work and can custom make just about ANYTHING! Hes in the classifieds as well with pics of his work. VERY reasonable. And they have a tactical look that the regular tube( like mine) just cant compete with. The 15 dollars I got mine for, turns out to be a very good deal, as they go for alot more usually. Check this out. its on amazon.. its a good starting point.

not sure if that is the right thread size, sometimes buying from third party sellers on amazon you don't get alot of information about the product. that one looks like a paintball'er one also.

welcome home safe and welcome to the forum. i too just purchased one and already getting the eyes from the wifey. -lol

yea if anyone has gotten a shroud or suppressor and can provide the link to where they got it, it would be great!

contact Belt_fed. He custom makes them how ever you want it to look and he has samples of his work in the classifieds thread. VERY good work and reasonable pricing! Be sure it is legal in your state to even have a fake suppressor installed. I know some states are REALLLLLLY picky about this.

yea i contacted him. I'm just waiting on his reply. Thanks for all your help. its greatly appreciated. I sent you a link to one on amazon. Was that the one you got for $15?

Welcome to the forum, Matt! Fellow New Yorker here too. Albany area myself, although I went to school out in Utica which is a little closer to your neck of the woods. Are you stationed up in Fort Drum or did you decide to move to that area?
