I joined the forum several weeks ago, but I didn't introduce myself then.

I've been a shooter all my life, but not a serious competitor until I took up Sporting Clays at the age of 50. I was lousy, but I got better, and after years of trying, I ended up in Master Class. Now I'm old (78), blind in my shooting (right) eye, and I have cancer. But guess what - being naturally left-handed, I can still shoot a handgun and rifle from the left!

I've had a S&W carry gun and a big S&W .357 for years, and recently bought a S&W .22 that's almost as big as the .357. I think that's all I need, but you never know!

Now I'm going out to the range 2-3 times a week, and the guys on this forum have made an ammo-holic out of me!

I look forward to "talking" to all of you guys in the future.

Welcome from another VA old man (74) leftie revolver shooter.

BTW, I have to ask, is your clan from Scotland or Ireland?

Ireland. One of my ancestors came over before the Revolution and later drew a very small pension for his military service. I suspect that for many years my people couldn't read or write, because the local tax and marriage records spelled the name differently every time, even though you can tell they were referring to the same family. It was eventually settled on "Cassada" but it probably was originally Caiside or O'Caiside. The old Irish pronunciation was oh-KOSH-eh-deh. Nowadays my cousins in Ireland spell and pronounce it the English way, Cassidy, but we say CASS-ah-da because the pronunciation has changed to match the wrong spelling.

I use an old Irish Gaelic spelling for my screen name, in honor of my ancestors.
