Hello.

I recently just purchased a full sized, 5 in, 9mm Pro CORE for my new interest in competition shooting.

I have shot about 300 rounds (this is not enough, I want more!) through the pistol and have loved it so far.

I had a quick question, I was told that the new Pro series CORE have the APEX trigger system in them from S&W. The trigger does feel much improved to a standard M&P and you can fell the shortened RAM. I want to see if there was any truth in this, since I am fairly new to the M&P.

Also, If anyone had any tips or hints for me to improve the firearm for competition, feel free to pitch in.

Thanks

There is no RAM in the core or newer M&P's there is a bump on the slide lock for audible reset. The CORE has a greatly improved trigger but it's not APEX. Welcome and enjoy your CORE :)

Thats what I thought. The guy at the shop must have been confused or misunderstood what S&W told him.

Is a APEX RAM and Trigger worth the upgrade?

I also just purchased a LF-Arms extended mag release, which I believe will be a huge upgrade for me. I have to shimmy the pistol to press the release with my thumb.

BK is the guy to ask read his thread it should answer your questions.

You were told wrong.

No. He was probably lying to you in order to make a sale.

If the attachment uploaded, you can see the differences in the sears; stock, Pro Series and Apex Hard Sear. The profile on the Pro and Apex are quite similar, but the underside of the Pro sear is relieved for some reason. I could not get the Apex to perform to my liking in the Pro Series M&P with and AEK trigger. So after about a year, I switched back to the Pro Series sear and kept the AEK trigger.

Good to know. I got the Apex Comp AEK to install later. Ill try it with the pro sear first and go from there
