Viewed my first New Manufactured S&W Model 610-3 10MM Auto
yesterday at my favorite Local Gun Shop.

Revolver was Brand New just received, I was the third person to view it.
Employee said the first one they had didn't make it out to the
floor. Must be popular.

Checked for all the dreaded stuff S&W enthusiasts freak out about.

All was good about it.

Found several things interesting.
- Front Sight is the Quick Change Spring Loaded Front Sight.
- There is no Little Envelop with Fired Cartridge
- No Julian Date code just 050919
- and like I always say "The Lock" is the next Phase of
Collecting S&W's.

They didn't have it priced yet, so going back to take another
look at it and see what they want for it.

Just don't know if I want a Moon Clip Revolver. I do have the
Componets to reload for it though. We'll see.

I used to own one of the original 610s and at the range I found it less trouble to skip the moon clips and pluck the empties out with my fingernail. I wouldn't do that if was competing in a revolver match of some sort but it worked fine at the range. They also make tools for loading and unloading moon clips.

I liked my 610 but sold it after buying a M69. Unless you already have some 10mm autos and want to avoid having an additional caliber there is a lot to be said for rimmed cartridges in revolvers.

They are great guns. I have one of the old (early 1990's manufacture) 610's no lock 5" barrel.

I just got a new 4" and I love it. It fits any holster made for the 4" N-frames, and felt recoil is, to me, actually less than with my 625 4".

Mine is a definite keeper.

The fired case in the envelope program ran it's course , The firing pin marks on spent cases never solved any crimes and the silly requirement has been dropped by every state ... maybe CA still requires it.
The program just never worked...firing pins are way too easy to change thus rendering them useless for firearms ID .

I am a BIG fan of both the 610 and moon clips

Norseman, you do not mention if you are looking at a 4" or the 6 1/2" revolver. My 6 1/2 has been great

I need to add one of the new 4" 610s to my stable

As to moon clips, while the news is on the night before I go shooting, I load up 20-30-40 or more clips and put them in my range bag. The a few days after shooting, I de-moon the clips sitting in the same chair

Now all of my 310/610 revolvers have had their chambers opened up for the 10MM Magnum cartridge, so moon clips are absolutely required when shooting 10MM Auto or 40 S&W

Plus I like the positive ejection that you get from a moon clipped revolver and all your brass stays together

Size does Matter

It is S&W SKU: 12463.

Circa 2019 Smith &Wesson Model 610-3 Revolver Hand Ejector
Swing Out Cylinder, 10MM Auto Caliber, 6 Shot. Stainless Steel
made, Frame type "N", 3.875 (3-7/8") Barrel, Adjustable Rear Sight,
Round Butt Grip Frame, New Style Rubber Grips.
Moon clip retaining device needed for Cartridge.

I see this Revolver will shoot 40 S&W cartridge with the Moon
Clips. That's neat, like the 375/38 or 44Mag/44Spl.

Interesting Colt_SAA; Load Moon Clips at home, on the ready,
Shoot at the Range, pop them out, store, go home, get'm ready
again for later. That would be wise. Thanks.
