First time at the range with my new 7" barrel 22A-1 yesterday. I am almost pleased with the accuracy of the pistol. As all good gun owners know, you meet someone at the range that has a gizmo that looks neat. In this case it was a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot scope. Has anyone equipped their S&W auto loader with a Red Dot scope and if so what make, model did you choose?
BTY the 22A-1 performed very well. I used Wally-World Federal Ammo .22LR 36 Grain Copper Plated Hollow Point with no FTF, jams or miss fires in any way. The only thing I wish the pistol would have is some good diamond cut walnut grips. I do not like the rubber grips. Could be all my other handguns have wood grips. Guess I will have to get use to it.

22A Red Dot

I mounted a TRUGLO Holographic Red Dot (item #179627 at Midway) on my 22A last year and I am thoroughly pleased. I was never a great handgun shooter but this sight really made it fun again! The sight came with a Weaver base that mounted right on the 22A. It was so nice that I added one to my 625-8 and experienced the same improvement!

Just got a new 22A with the 7" barrel and a Sightmark Sure Shot Reflex Sight SM13003B for it this week. Took it to the range yesterday. The sight was easy to zero in and worked great for the price. Did have a problem with the 22A though, the magazines kept popping out while firing and would consistantly get fail to feeds on the second round of 10 round clip. Anyone got any advice on either of these problems??

I bought a TRUGLO red dot when I bought my 22A-1 a few years back. Very pleased with it and it too mounted directly to the rail.

I noticed that when I load hollow point ammo, the eighth round jams against the notch in the front of the magazine (the two holes that lock into the frame of the pistol). Try this, load up your magazine with 10 rounds. Then strip the first round out of the magazine by hand. Does the second round rise to the top of the mag?
