Did you clean and lube it?

Are both magazines doing it?

Does another brand of ammo do it?

Are you an experienced shooter, or a new shooter?

If you're a new shooter work on your grip. You want a good firm grip but not a death grip.

More info. would definitely help here. My Shield 40 has been flawless so far, with factory and reloads. Accuracy has been incredible from 2-7 yards; better than I could have imagined (and better than I thought I could do). My Shield 9 is the same; flawless functioning and accurate.

Was "pmj" suppose to be "fmj"? Or was it suppose to be "pmc"? Give us a little more, so we can help a little more :-)

More info would certainly help, but I can tell you that mine was a little finicky in the first 100 or so rounds, then it settled in and has fed/fired/ejected everything I've handed it since. Most agree that guns need a break-in period, 400-500 rounds is what I like. A firm wrist is also needed with most any semi-automatic.

Yes I've been shooting a long time and have purchased about 20 or maybe re guns including the shield 9 and never had this issue and I haven't tried other Ammo but the gun fails to feed the second round and the slide stays partially open with a round stuck in the feed opening. I've been reading others talk about limp wrist but the. Why wouldn't my 9 do it or my fix do it

It just seems really weird I've shot hundreds of rounds through glocks, f&n, shields, and rugers and they have never done this

Have a you allowed other shooters to try it ? As snappy as an 18oz small 40 can be even some experienced shooters can have control issues from time to time too . Try some Nytrile gloves to improve grip too . Does your 40sw shield hand cycle rounds slowly and smoothy ?? And is the mag clean . New mags are not clean many times .

The ammo wasn't Perfecta, was it? That's the only thing my 40c has ever rejected. I've been told I'm not alone in this. It's only the 40 S&W, and only in M&P's.

I'm still not clear on exactly what's happening. Pictures help.

Is it doing this?

Or maybe this?

Also, when you say "feed opening" are you talking about the ejection port or chamber?

For future reference, here is a list of the M&P parts and their names: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/341115-m-p-parts-identification.html

Yes rastoff the first pic is exactly what it is doing.. The guy I bought it from shot about 20 rds through it and it fed fine but after I shot a box of fifty it started to jam again. I guess I'll try different ammo but my fnx 40 eats it just fine but every manufacture is different is different

i have the shield 40 and mine did same thing from day1. and yes i was using perfecta ammo flatnose but i polished the chamber and feeding ramp and it runs flawless since try useing polishin compound and im new to the forum and enjoying it alot of good ifo and good people thanks

I would suggest checking the ammo in a gage such as those made by Wilson, etc. to be sure it's in spec. Lacking a cartridge gage, you could use a micrometer. Also, check the thickness of the cartridge rim (yeah, I know it's referred to as rimless) to be sure it will easily fit into the extractor claw.

Then, I would suggest polishing the feed ramp and the chamber as well as the breech face. I would also polish the extractor claw and be sure there is not a burr there.

Polishing is intended to smooth a surface with very minimal removal of material. Some folks are comfortable doing this and some aren't. That's what gunsmiths are for. Hope you find the solution.

This was first reported in October, I sure hope it been addressed by now! - I'd love to hear what the resolution was!

Buy a case gage , learn to do a plunk test and get some Remington express or speer lawman and try again
