Wait until you see this one. 4 inch barrrel. 8 shot steel cylinder on a scandium frame. Hi Viz front sight. Its like the 386XL hunter but in .327. The ultimate trail gun

I don't see it on Smiths web site. Where are you finding this at? Reno

632SC

Sorry, i typed the post as i was running out. One of my local dealers is just down the road from Smith and the reps are in there all of the time. One of them pulls the 632SC prototype out and asks if i thought it would be a hit. I told him i would give him a grand for it on the spot. He declined but told me emails to Smith would help to take it off of the drawing board and into production.

I really hope they make it.

Dang it man give us the person to email name!! I am still waiting for that other unicorn to appear, the 632 hammerless that STILL in not in the inventory yet!!

I'd be happy just to see the non-comped 2 1/8" 632 they've advertised for over a year now. My last call yielded a reply that they expected production in June. Of course, I forgot to ask, "Which June?".

LGS has an older 631 (32 H&R mag, 4", 6-shot, J-combat grips, and yes, it has the unfortunate IL) on his shelves on consignment. It's not yet priced and when asked, the owner just said "expensive". The owner knows me to be a hardcore S&W addict, so that response was to be expected. However, the thing is cute as a bug's ear despite the IL and it seems to be talking to me ("pssst...hey beeeg guy...come a leeetle bit closer..."). Anyone have any recent experience buying this model? If so, what are they going for these days? -S2

It was an L frame. It looked very similar to a 386XL Hunter except with a 4 inch barrel, and it had an 8 round capacity.

Speedo, I own 8 model 631's, none of mine have a lock. They were made before the locks were put into them. Is it stainless steel or blue? If it is blue it is probably a 431 and not nearly as rare.

Peyton, I'm going by memory on the lock, but I'm pretty sure that it had it; also it was stainless. I'll get another look at it later this week, maybe take a photo or 2 of it. Since you've owned 631's, what did you (and do you) think of them? Anything to watch out for with that model? Thanks for your feedback. -S2

ps; you still over in Afghanistan?

Peyton: you're correct; no lock. Here are some photos:

They want considerably more (+$200) than what the new Pro-Series 327's are going for on GB, so I think that it's overpriced. It's nice, but I'm not sure that it's worth that much more than a new 327. But I could be wrong; it's been known to happen on occasion. -S2

Forgive my mental density but...I'm lost as to what model is being contemplated, or produced, or maybe produced, or...

is it the kit gun type pictured above but in .327 mag or an L frame full lug 8 shot .327 mag?

Not really interested in a), if b) I'll sign up for a waiting list.

Inquiring minds want to know. :)

.357magger, the original post was about an L-frame, in the process Speedo asked a question and the thread swerved a little.

I think an L frame, would be great but with a choice of 3, 4 or six inch barrel choices.

Ruger has a 7-shot version of the GP-100 in .327 Magnum. Making an L-frame S&W - and an 8-shot at that - and using the 632 number - simply makes no sense. The 431/432 & 631/632 revolvers are all J-frames. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but my bet is someone mislead the OP. As I said, I'll be happy - and quite shocked - to see the non-comped 2 1/8" 632, SKU #178046 from 2010's catalog, finally emerge.
