New to 38spcl reloading

I may get into reloading for my S&W Models 14 and 15, which both like 158gr SWC's (gunshow reloads). Is there any difference in Starline 38 spcl brass and the 38+P brass? Just the headstamp I would think. I will be loading target loads probably in the 800fps range and plan to use Winch 231 and maybe Hornady SWC bullets.I currently reload 223 and 6MM BR but have not reloaded any handgun cartridges. Military brass is the only .38 I've found different enough to matter.

HP38/231 is excellent for .38. I load about 15,000 a year with it. With carbide dies, .38 is a snap to load compared to rifle. The cases don't grow with firing, so no periodic trimming. Just keep shooting them until they split.

I load 4.5 of 231 with a 150 gr cast swc and the book says 825fps.

Throw away your gunshow reloads. I've seen too many guns blown up because of them.

Starline makes great brass. The only difference seems to be the ring around the bottom which is important for guys shooting revolvers that use full moon clips. Starline takes special moons because it fits loosely in most clips.

Plus P brass isn't really needed. I use RP brass. I buy a case of it and when I start seeing cracks on the heads I replace the cases. It lasts a very long time.

800 fps is what I shoot for in my .38s for ICORE competition and for USPSA.
