Hello all. As stated in the title. I'm new here and new to S&W.
I've been a long time supporter of Ruger for 20 years. Recently became frustrated with lack of accessories for Ruger American 9. I carried the full and sub compact.
Sold them both and picked up a Glock 17 and a Glock 43.
I was very disappointed in the 43.
Sold it to a friend and while I was there. I was telling my friend of all the different sub compacts I tried out at range day. Hellcat, P365, XD-S, etc etc.
My friend handed me his Shield 1.0 I guess you'd call it with the extended mag. I shot this gun better than any other gun in it's class.
So I decided to purchase the Shield Plus. Big mistake for the moment because I always carry a spare mag. Looks like it'll be awhile for the 13rd to get in stock.

Very impressed with the Shield.

My oldest son recently picked up his first pistol. He chose the M&P 9.

We went and practiced, ran some drills. Sad to say he shot my Glock better than me and I shot his M&P 9 better than him. Would trade him in a heartbeat but he purchased the one with the safety and the way I position my thumbs I knocked the safety ON several times while shooting.

Glad to have found the forum. I have found alot of great posts here with a wealth of knowledge and info.

Welcome to the Forum & S&W Walnut777

Hard to beat the M&P Shield
The magazines will be around at a decent price eventually.
Don't be the guy who pays $300+ for a magazine = WAIT

Welcome to the forum. I have had a Shield 1.0 for at least 6 years now and feel no need to "upgrade." I was able to get extra mags when I purchased my shield. Call me crazy, but I have made zero changes to my Shield. If I do my part, it does its part.

I hope you have a similar experience with your Plus. Be patient and keep searching. Extra mags will eventually present themselves.

Welcome!

I picked up a Shield 2.0 a couple years ago and got hooked. I've had my Shield Plus long enough to put 600 problem free rounds through it and couldn't be more pleased. My G43 and P365 are now sitting in the safe. I'll probably end up trading / selling for something in the near future.

newbie post

The wife & I joined the S&W family with a Shield+ & Bodyguard respectively. We read about them, rented them at the range & then promptly purchased. :D full disclosure The shop was having a $100 accessory bonus per gun purchase which was a pretty big incentive. LOL

It did take my wife a mag or two to get used to the bodyguard trigger but eventually took to it.

We've been pretty firmly in the H&K camp EDC wise but I wanted something smaller for summer carry and she had an incident while jogging that she was looking for something she can run with. S&W won the day. ;)

Looking to learn lots from you fine folks.

Welcome to the forum! I own a Gen 1 Shield 9 and a M&P9 2.0. I'm very happy with both of them. FYI- The safety on your Son's M&P9 can be easily removed;)

I carry the Shield Plus with the flush fit 10 round magazine and 1 in the chamber.I carry the 13 round magazine for a spare.
