Stopped by my local pawn shop and the owner said, "just got something in that you might be interested in." He knows me pretty well, as I jumped all over it! It's in about 98% condition and has box and papers, and is the full target version. I had been kicking myself ever since I let a 6in bbl 617 no dash full target get away from me several years ago, and this is helping me get over it.

dont feel too bad....these 17-6's are worth more than the 617's IMO...i have one of each....my 17-6 being the 8 3/8" full target model :)

Why dont I see more 17-6's for sale? I would buy a 6 or a 8 3/8? I have seen some GB Auctions that are just stupid amounts of money...

fyi there are a couple on gunbroker right now....not stupid prices yet....the 8 3/8 was discontinued sometime during production...i think 1993....you dont see alot of them because there arent as many....just think, you could buy a stainless 617 for pretty much the same money....more people bought them than the 17-6's...and think how hard it is to find the old 617's!

these guns are worth holding onto....just my .02

wproct,

you better add 17-6 6" to your signature :).........and while your at it, take that 617-1 off of there because you need to sell it to me!

well that is understandable!...it was only a joke...i would have to call you crazy for getting rid of that gun even if it was to ME!....4" no lock guns are hard to come by, its next on my list!

They are such nice guns, patience pays off in the long run. The grips set the blue off so well. How many other K22/17's do you own? I've got 3 of them all get shot on a regular basis. You found a nice one to be sure.

Here's mine which I picked up at auction. Took these pictures at the local FFL who has to hold it while I get permission from the county judge.

This is my one and only K22/17, so you can see why I was so excited. Carl3989, those are outstanding S&W combat grips that are on your new 17-6!

Wish the rest of the gun looked as good as the grips.

This gun was improperly stored in a soft case and suffered from rust and some white yuk in the action.

It's a shame

It's a shame to see such a fine revolver to have suffered such neglect. However, I bet some TLC could do wonders.

that is a tragic sight to see a gun that was treated like that.....but, pull it apart and get to scrubbing and that rust should come off fairly well.....:)

i was watching that sale on gunbroker as well...it was still a good buy...

Good for you! I have the same in 4" and they are wonderful rimfire revolvers. Mine's accurate as hell and a joy to use.
