I have a nice mid 80's model 586 that I love the double action trigger pull on. The pull is not too heavy and very smooth as it should be. I just bought an 1980 29-2 and the single action trigger pull is nice and crisp, but the double action trigger pull seems very heavy. I was wondering if this is typical of this gun. I don't have a trigger pull gauge to test it with. May have to get one of those. What kind of double action trigger pull are you guys getting on your model 29's?
Thanks

If the gun wasn't fired much, or the action cycled much, a little stiffness seems normal to me using DA mode on a lot of the N frames that I have owned.

Well the action is tight and timeing seems to be perfect from my limited experience. I do believe the gun has not been fired much. I intend to remedy that.

Use a piece of scotch tape to hold down the cylinder stop, if finish issues are a big concern to you. The you can cycle the action without leaving unnecessary turn lines. Remember that the cylinder won't actually stop in place without the cylinder stop being up, but you can stop it close to being in position with your fingers, so go a little slower when cocking the gun. You can put a lot more wear onto the action parts without marring the exterior finish.

Welcome to the forum

Dont go overboard, but squirt a little good oil like Breakfree or Rem-Oil in your action with the hammer cocked and keep working it...it will smooth out a little.
