Below (I hope these pics come through) is a Model 10-5. According to the SCSW it is a 1973-74 production. Picked up for $399 + tax. At the time, I didn't realize that is was as old as it is. The finish is easily 95%. I've been yearning for a fixed sight K frame .38. It is sporting the magna grips from my Model 15-3. I have a set of K frame diamond magnas on order.

Great gun, otis! Enjoy that Model 10 - one of the finest all-around handguns ever made.

Regards,

Jerry

Congratulations on the purchase of a S&W classic that's in excellent condition for it's age.

Very nice! That's one gun I have my eye open for. Local gun shop has a 4" Model 10-5, but he has a price tag of $550 on it and doesn't seem like he wants to dicker. . .

Every S&W enthusiast should own a Model 10, it looks like you found a good one. I picked up a 10-6 last summer, it's become one of my favorite shooters...

my favorite S&W. its a classic look, fun to shoot and there's a good reason there are so many of them that were made. I have a 4 and 6 inch and want a 10-5 5 inch barrel. enjoy yours.

Nice purchase. I guess prices are still going up. I got my 10-5 with a tapered 4 inch at auction earlier this year. Paid $350 and I thought I overpaid but I couldn't pass it up. Looks like I did OK after all.

I would guess it's better than 95%
Also Diamond Magna's were used up to about 66,,, So the grips that are on it would be correct for the gun.

There was a similar conditioned Model 10 at my local gun shop for $550

I'll be scouring the gun show in two weeks. Problem is my budget is about $300+/-

Yes, the grips on the Model 10 are from my Model 15-3 nickel (circa 1977). The grips that came on the Model 10 were Crimson Trace laser grips. I had to see what this revolver felt like and handled like with the correct grips. I will have to locate a set of correct non-diamond magnas for this revolver.

need a couple more

I have a 10-5 snubbie in the box from about 1974.I also have a 4" RB from 1965.If I can find a 5" and a 6" I'll have the set.One in nickle would be nice.

Nice Roundbutt 4", "Combat". Here's a nice 10-5, 5" (my "shooter") that's a favorite out of a safe full of Smiths and Colts:
