Well, after many questions to the combined wisdom of this forum…and I THANK everyone who replied to my threads…I bought a "new to me" model 64-5 from SOSS (Sportsman Outdoor Super Store). Frist let me give a big thumb's up to SOSS, very easy to deal with, super-fast shipping (Note: they are only open Tuesday-Friday so they only ship those days). The gun seems almost new, no burn marks on cylinder, forcing cone is clean, and bore is perfect and the magna grips are icing on the cake (Tyler t-grips will look great with them). Cylinder is tight and it has a very smooth trigger in both SA and DA, almost as if it has been polished, but could be just very good QC. Lock up is tight and crisp; it feels like a finely tuned machine.
I am looking for a "born on date", the S# starts with BBZ0XXX, and it has a stamp (T 41) by the cylinder release, I am guessing that would be a PD or security company mark, any info on that would be nice as well.
Here are some photos (note: the holster is a vintage Roy Baker pancake I picked up a few months ago).

That's a good looker. I was a little shocked when your photo came up because they had specifically advertised these as round butt and with the rubber grips. Congrats.

EDIT: Well, they must have gotten an additional batch in that included square butts (obviously) because they have taken the RB and rubber grip description off their site.

Per Ashlander's reply above, it should be 1988.

I was issued a 64-6 a couple of years ago for work, and I liked it so much I bought two more 64's from J&G Sales. The issued gun is DA/SA, the other two are DAO, but all have excellent triggers. Each one sees several thousand Plus-P rounds per year, and none have ever given me a moment's trouble.

I bought a used m64, brought it home, cleaned it up, and it quickly became one of my favorites. It somehow multiplied though because i now have 3 of them .... i shoot them more than anything else I own. You will enjoy this gun.
