howdy everybody,

new guy on the forum just got the 15-22 and it's my first rifle (guns are getting a bit expensive to shoot ).....anyway i'm cruising thru the forum trying to get familiar with the AR i bought it on saturday and sadly still didn't get a chance to take it out and try it.

i'm looking to get a scope for it so need a bit of a feedback and advice if possible. saw few good deals on the amazon so i'm wondering if any of you had any experience with these scopes or what do you think of them.

any help is appreciated. thanks

Are you trying to decide between a 1X illuminated scope and a 3-9x? What type shooting are you planning to do with your rifle?

Casual shooting nothing big deal for the start. Indoors range during winter outdoors range during summer. Maybe take my kid out to the woods teach him how to shoot a rabbits or squirrel or shoot a can or some kind of target with friends from about 60+ feet away. I won't be entering any kind of shooting tournaments etc. Like I've said its my first rifle so I have no idea what's capable of.

Well still trying to figure it out what I want. Went to the local gun shop checked out / liked the Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 1xRed Dot Sight Riflescope Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 1xRed Dot Sight Riflescope:Amazon:Sports & Outdoors. At this point it's either Bushnell red dot or BARSKA 3-9x42 IR Contour Riflescope (4A Mil-Plex IR 7/8" Picatinny Base) BARSKA 3-9x42 IR Contour Riflescope (4A Mil-Plex IR 7/8" Picatinny Base):Amazon:Sports & Outdoors. I doubt I'll ever shoot beyond 50-70 yards so is the red dot any effective at that distance?

If you like the Bushnell type Micro Dot you might consider shopping around for one that accepts a riser that is made for the optic to co-witness. The Bushnell has a built in short base which requires fooling around with generic risers. Some folks stack two YHM mini risers together and it works fine but I think it's kinda rinky-dink way to do it.

I have a Primary Arms Gen8.
