While practice at the range I observed a couple officers was firing shotguns that had two tubular magazines. I could not see if the weapons were pump or autos. I was told that they kept one magazine with buckshot and the other magazine with slugs. I think the magazines held five or seven rounds each ? any ideas what I was observing ?

There are several different two tube shotguns out there. Maybe the S&W M&P12? There's also the DP-12, Kel Tec KSG, and I believe others.

I had a KSG, it was a dependable gun. I kept mine loaded with 4b since it was my house gun.

I did see one of the S&W versions at Sportsmans, but since the kid behind the counter didn't want to break his conversation with a buddy I didn't get hands on. It looked pretty good.

Jimmy, you are in Kel-Tec's back yard there in Florida. That'd be my guess.
There's a rocker switch on those that lets you toggle between the two mag tubes.

As with all bull-pup designs, Heaven Help 'ya if you experience a malfunction! :(

^^^ This was the first thing I was thinking when I read this. Late eighties/ early nineties one of the vice squad boys comes down to the range with a drum fed shotgun. Streetsweeper, I think. Anyway it never got through a full drum without some sort of malfunction.

Our 14" Benelli entry guns never failed to fire. My favorite shotgun for police work.

The DP-12 can't switch magazines.(buckshot to slug etc) The KSG can.
Both have twin under barrel tubular magazines. Both are pump action. Both hold 7 rounds in each magazine tube.

The KSG can switch from one magazine tube to the other between shots with a selector.

I have both guns, neither is very new to the market. Great shotguns. I prefer the DP-12 for sporting clays. :)
