Most members here seem to enjoy a good Western and it looks like we have something to look forward to with this one. It is "Hostiles" opening December 22. It stars Christian Bale, Wes Studi and Ben Foster among others in a very talented cast. The story involves an Army Captain, who had spent his career fighting Indians, tasked with the mission of escorting a dying Cheyenne Chief from an internment camp in New Mexico to the tribal homeland in Montana. Early reviews are good, boys, so you'd best saddle up for what I hope turns out to be a rip-snorter of a motion picture.

The trailer looks good, but then trailers always look good, don't they?

Looks like a very well made movie. Having two very good actors in it that I'm ware of (Bale and Studi) I'm game for it. And I'm not much a fan of most new Westerns........If it actually hits the theater? ill go see it there. If not? ill buy it soon as it hits the WM stores shelves.

I just watched Godless the mini series on Netflix and loved it.

Will look for this. Love me a good western.

I watched Cheyenne Autumn starring Richard Widmark (among others) earlier in the week. Seems like this movie is somewhat similar.

eb07, I saw a promo for Godless on Netflix earlier today. Can you give me a brief idea what it's about?

Last night "Hostiles" finally opened at my local theater. I went and was pleased with the performance. It proved to be an excellent motion picture.

Very raw-boned, flinty performances from all concerned, but Christian Bale was superb as the soon-to-be retired Cavalry Captain looking back on decades of hard service chasing, fighting and killing Indians and, in turn, seeing friends killed in the most foul ways. This is not "F Troop" style Cavalry.

Beautiful New Mexico and Colorado scenery. Lots of violence and gunplay. (My wife was cringing frequently.) I saw very little trace of 21st Century sensibilities, attitudes and PC foolishness, to its great credit.

I give it a strong thumbs up and commend it to all who enjoy a good Western.

It's touted to be "the best western since Unforgiven". If it's in that league, I'll be seeing it for sure :)

The fiance and I saw it yesterday. The acting, cinematography and attention to detail was great.

As Targets Guy said above, the movie definitely applies 21st century values to 19th century civilization. Other than that it was great.

Thought is was worthwhile myself. Acting was good and nice to see some period correct firearms. Enough action and was not as gory as I was expecting. Agree the scenery was exceptional.

Which is while I'll wait until I can see it without spending a lot of money to support people who hate me.
