Newb to 3rd gen question

I’m looking for a new carry pistol and really like the 3rd gen smiths. There seem to be a lot of options out there. Right now I’m looking b/t DA/SA and DAO. I know that the 3919 is the single stack version of the 6906 which is the compact version of the 5906. I am curious is there a single stack version of the 6946? Also any thoughts on any of the above?

2: standard with decocker

FOURTH DIGIT
3: aluminum frame with SS slide
4: aluminum frame with carbon steel slide
5: carbon steel frame and slide
6: SS frame and slide
7: SS frame and carbon steel slide

Exceptions:
The 6906 should be the 6903
4040 a 4013 single stack with a scandium frame - 3.5 inch barrel
there are two versions of the 4053, the single stack 8rd guns and the newer double stack version.

The 3 is alloy, and 4 is blued, 6 is stainless.

Williamsburg is a really nice place to live. I lived in Yorktown when I first moved to VA back in 98, and went there all the time. There are some wonderful guns to be had on the local VA gun trader site. Best of luck!

Yes, xx5x will be a compact DAO, as in 3953, 4053, 4553, 4556, etc.

Thanks everyone, I think I have decided on a 3953/4 and will be going to a show next weekend to see if I can find one, if not, then I will be online looking for one! After that I think a 3913 is going to be on my list! I absolutly love smiths, they just feel right. Currently shooting a M&P9FS.

Squidsix just saw one of those for $299, really thought about it. I'm on delay for a 3913LS 3 mags one of which is extended, houge grips, original grips, box, all papers, $400. I'm thinking I'm gonna be happy with it. Didn't see anything wrong with it, needs a good cleaning. Will post pics once I take ownership.
