I recently acquired a Model 24-3 equipped with the 6.5" barrel. I realize the Herrett's are aftermarket. My question is: what type of grips would this revolver sported from the factory? And, is the tall front sight blade original to this revolver? Thanks in advance.

Mine came with "football" goncala alves target grips. The front sight appears to be correct height, but mine was the same blue as the rest of the pistol. Yours looks discolored and may be replacement sight blade.

The front sight looks right to me, like mine anyway. Mine has football cutout checkered targets although I didn't buy it new so can't be sure the gun shipped that way.

The 24-3 likely shipped with Goncalo Alves Target stocks. And the front sight blade is correct Patridge style. You can find the correct stocks on eBay but for shooting those checkered Herrett’s will probably handle and feel better. I like the Herrett’s for shooting.

The front sight looks correct to me, but the 6 1/2" 24-3 shipped with .400" wide target trigger and .500" wide target hammer. Yours have been changed.

Good catch Nframe. The trigger measures .290" wide and the hammer measures .400" wide. It's possible that my 24-3 was a special order, but w/o lettering it, it's all speculation. Thanks for pointing that out.

That looks right. The lighting is a bit odd for the photo, but so it mine. This is my gun for comparison.

Nice looking blued 24-3. I'm dead sure it shoots just as beautiful.

My 24-3 in nickle for reference, born on 1994 Jan 6 (spec ord 4006), 6.5", TS, TT, TH.

My 24 came with target hammer and trigger as well as the target stocks. No matter, shoot the gun and have fun! You'll love the 44 special rounds. Sheer joy.

That's a great addition. The tall front sight blade is to make up for the pencil barrel and is correct. You'll enjoy shooting that one. Here's mine. It came complete with box and papers and looked to be unfired outside the factory (until I got it :D).
