next big thing?

I was watching a show the other night about collectibles and they were talking about some toy from the 80's that they think is going to be the next big thing in the market. That got me thinking about the next style of firearms that people will want like the dirty harry phase or the ww2 phase?

Speaking for myself, my newly acquired next gun style is the 22 caliber. I've purchased a revolver (S&W 617) a rifle (Henry H004 GB) and I just found a new SA Ruger Single-Ten on sale and bought it a few days ago.

Well, let's see. The win. 94 craze has come and gone since win. isn't made anymore in the U.S of A.

Any Marlin before the sellout will make a small flash in the pan.

Even though there is a demand right now I think any pre-lock S&W will be in demand for collectors in 10 to 15 years.

That is what I am guessing. But what do I know!? I'm not a collector, I am a shooter, acclumilator. ha ha ha

The only thing I have been right in predicting is the price of muscle cars would increase. I said that in the early 80's. But I was wrong in how much they would go up. I had a chance to buy a 71 Hemi cuda convertible with a 4 speed--1 or 2 or 3 made, for $15,000 and I said it would take my lifetime before I could sell it for a profit. The guy sold it 4 years later for $35,000 and last I read that car went for 5 million some years back!!!!

So I was wrong in that too really!!! I will wait to see what others have to say as they will most likely be more right than me! ha ha ha

I don't think 1911s or classic S&Ws are ever going to "go away."

Right now I think ultra compacts are the "big thing."

10 years from now? Who knows?

Read our thread titles and look at the ones that have grown legs. In the past no one ever mentioned the .32-20s, now we've got a "long running thread". Also understand that they're fun to shoot. Its a big requirement for the next big thing. There are enough of the guns, but not too many.

Mosin Nagants are red hot right now. M44 & M38 are drying up. Still some deals to be had on the 91/30 tho.

There's a lot of interest from the younger shooters as well. Where else are you gonna get a sho' nuff high power rifle for a hunnert bucks and ammo at $80-ish for a 440 rd spam can?

Because of difficulty finding places to shoot or hunt with pistols or rifles, perhaps air rifles or fine shotguns will become more popular for shooters.

As for collectors? I'll second the vote for DA Colt revolvers.

If it has Colt's prancing pony roll mark then it's filled with over priced unobtanium. If it has a S&W logo and it's four inches or even better shorter then they are all "collector items" and behind glass worth more than yours in hand. And suddenly if you find a Ruger Security Six in decent shooter grade then you have to laugh when you see the price tag. And good luck finding a three inch GP100. Cripes, I'm even seeing dealers making a mint off Taurus and Rossi guns. I even see Hi Points going for real money now. And what happened to Kel Tec's pricing?!?!?! Heck, I'm trying to remember if my Bersa cost me much over $200 brand new a hand full of years ago.

Next new thing?!?!?! They are all becoming over priced nightmares!!!!
