Its disappointing that the NFL rejected an ad based on its firearms prohibition, even though the ad never mentions nor shows an actual firearm. It merely shows a man who states that protecting his family is his highest priority, and that he rejects anyone restricting his right to choose how to do so. The ad is included in the link.

The NFL relies heavily on TV contracts. TV networks are part of the Main Stream Media. Need I go on???

Actually, I think the mainstream media relies on the NFL. Lots of money to be made off of football.

I see their point. Some people link guns to violence so the NFL will have none of that on their shows. The new NFL motto: "Hypocrisy - climbing to new heights".

Maybe Daniel Defense can run their ad during the Dayton 500. Ya think NASCAR would have a problem with that?

Well, I'm sure they aren't worried about people boycotting the game no matter how stupidly they act, nor are they worried about running out of potential sponsors.

On the other hand, I bet it won't be awfully crowded at the various ranges across the country that happen to be open that day... ;)

And if I were one of the big-name sponsors/advertisers, I might start wondering about getting splashed by the potential fallout of this action on the part of the NFL if this hits a big enough nerve with the public or goes viral in the Internet. I for one wouldn't want my name or products associated with idiots. (Chrysler, take note!) :D

Well I for one will now have more free time on my hands since I won't be watching the NFL anymore!

I pretty much did after folks like: Roger Staubach, Charlie Waters, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Terry Bradshaw, Mean Joe Green, Refridgerator Perry, Bob Grease, Tony Dorsett, and others retired.

I watch a lot of boxing and a little baseball, no football. A shame when any major organization cowers to political pressure and abandons the 2nd amendment. I will stop there before I get yelled at.

Even before this happened, I would rather watch paint dry than watch a televised NFL game. Now, I have even more of a reason to continue my boycott. ............ Big Cholla

Actually, the history of the NFL and guns hasn't been all that great. At least once a season one of their players shoots himself or someone else. It may be they don't want to give the brain trust they employ any more bright ideas.

Or they could just be jerks.

I thought the network paid a bunch of money to broadcast a major sporting event and then sold commercial time to pay for that. Since when does the sporting event franchiser (NFL in this case) have a say as to whom the broadcaster sells commercial time? I know that for many years NASCAR would not allow car sponsorship by whiskey distillers but could they keep them from advertising on the broadcast of the races?

If the sports organization can control what is advertised during the broadcast of their sporting event that must be one heckuva contract.

I have a lot more time behind an AR than I do watching football. Hell, I've got more time behind the wheel of a Ferrari than I do watching football.

Great ad, BTW.
