Went today for my weekly shoot. Still having minor FTF issues with a couple firearms. Seems that the mag spring is too strong to allow for a full load. Leaving out one round seems to solve the problem but I'm hoping that over time things will break in.

Now for the fun part. The indoor range I go to has 8 lanes for members and 8 for the public. You can shoot any handgun but only 22LR rifles. It's almost like shooting in your basement.

As I signed in two young men in fatigues were already on their way inside. I try to give people space so I took a lane at the oposite end. I started out with my PMR30. It's loud and spits brass all over. As I started to load a second mag I saw a shadow behind me. It was one of the soldiers. He was looking to see what I was shooting. When the noise is loud and you're able to keep shooting without reloading for a while it tends to draw the attention of others.

I explained to him what I was shooting and offered to let him shoot it. He was like a young boy getting a Daisy rifle for Xmas. He shot half the mag and went back to his lane. A minute later both of them showed up. I let the other soldier shoot my gun and the grins were ear to ear.

A little while later I went over to their lane to see what they were shooting. They had a SIG 45acp, a Springfield 45acp and a Henry 22lr rifle. I got to shoot the handguns and went back to my lane.

Before leaving I went over to thank them for sharing but also to thank them for their service to our Country. I didn't ask their names and probably will never see them again but it turned out to be the best day of my life.

You can meet the nicest people at an indoor range...I built the first one here in Montgomery County...It became a place for the shooting community to gather and socialize regardless of the weather...They were fun times...I hear the owner/operators now are all business...:)...Ben

Been that way often at our local SCDNR outdoor range as well.
We were there last week to finish setting a 50 yard zero on a new red dot optic on a new 7.62x51 bullpup. It kicked too much for me to finish the setup due to last year's rotator cuff surgery, so I asked hubby to finish the sighting.
I was overheard by the shooter at the next bench, two lanes away. He was a large older man with long grey hair and a long grey beard, there with a young boy, probably his grandson. He came over to me holding a Henry lever rifle in .22LR, and said that he overheard me saying my shoulder hurt, and he had this rifle I could use if I wanted to, that wouldn't hurt me to shoot.
What a sweetheart, and representative of the kind southern gentlemen that seem the norm here.

Had a similar situation years ago at one of our MG shoots. Had one of my 03’s , M-1 and M1-As there. Couple of N.C. NG range safety guys came by to look at the old weapons. They saw my 03 and M-1 and asked about them, if they could look at them. Told them sure and here’s some ammo to try them out. They were like kids at Christmas.

This was the first time that there was actually someone else there when I was. I usually go on Mondays. Monday is ladies day and I hope to hook up with some rich cougar. :D

This is like the time that one of the attendants at the indoor range near my brother saw that I was shooting an old Luger pistol and he was really overjoyed when I let him put a couple rounds he acquired through it. I told the more complete story before in a thread that I started (FUN DAY AT THE RANGE). I try to not pass up any chance to share our enjoyment our sport with others.
