I have two Shields 9 (No Thumb Safety) and decided to put
night sights on them but it came down between Ameriglo and
Big Dot night sights. I decided to put Ameriglo on one and the
Big Dot on the other.
Big Dot SW-00245-3 Tritium Front and White Stripe Rear
Note- According to the manufacturer they don't intend to put
Tritium on the rear for the Shield "Not enough room".
AMERIGLO SW-245 (Orange Outline on front- Front and Rear
both Tritium
In comparing them I've found the Ameriglo front sight with the
orange outline shows up in the day time better than the
the Big Dot front sight and__the Big Dot doesn't appear
really any bigger.
At night only the front sight shows on the Big Dot sights while
the Amerigo (both front and rear tritium) shows both front and
rear at night.
My conclusion is__If I had it to do over I'd put the Ameriglo sights
on both guns.
Choosing guns and sights for anyone else is like choosing chicks for them. Me? I'd choose both Ameriglo chicks.
Update: Put the Ameriglo two dot rear on the Shield that had the Ameriglo single dot rear and replaced the Big Dot white line on the other Shied with that single Ameriglo dot that came off the other Shield. Ordered the Ameriglo orange ring front sight to replace the Big Dot Front on the second Shield. So now
I'll have Ameriglo sights on both Shields. One will have the two dot rear and the other the one dot rear.
I'm much more satisfied now__at the cost of the Big Dot set.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Ameriglo idots? They do look nice.
I recently changed stock sights on my shield to XS big dots and did not enjoy the sight picture whatsoever. After over 100 rounds I got to the point where it wasn't terrible, but for me the sights left too much to be desired.

Just placed an order for some custom ameriglos. Went with the 3 dot, Green tritium front with orange outline. Two-dot rear, rounded notch, green tritium, white outline. Can't wait to get them in and installed. I sure do miss the accuracy of the notch and post sight system.

Curious how you like this combo?

I have the combo colors on a few guns and love them.... Very easy to pick up the front sight since it is a different color....

I love it. My groups have improved quite a bit over the stock sights. 2-3" groups at 15 yards are pretty easy now. That bright orange up front is simply awesome.
