Night Sight Recommendations

When my wife took her CCW class they had over twenty model to try out. She likes a Glock 17, so I went to the LGS and found a used G17 with the aftermarket BIG DOT front sight and a wide V rear. It is a fantastic point and fire sight! Without tritium, you won't see much in a dark house. Her Big Dot has a very faded tritium dot, but I see it fine in only starlight, having since moved into town, the streetlights make even the indoors bright!

Looking for night sights for a carry gun.

Three dot sites haven’t worked for me for years. So I’m looking at a front only, or I Dot, or Dot on top of Dot.

Any ideas?

Well, I've only got one set of night sights and they came from the factory on my Sig P365. I believe they are made for Sig by Trijicon, but I am not 100% sure. I suppose you could call Sig or Trijicon to confirm that.

If you only want the front sight you can replace just that one, but without the rear sight glowing, you'd have a tough time seeing where the pistol is actually aimed.

Like I said, this is my one and only set of night sights and if the P365 was not factory equipped with them, I doubt I would have changed them. They are descent but they do take a moment to acquire in the dark, especially if you just went into a dark environment. Your eyes must adjust. If you are already in a dark environment, they are easier to see quicker. The ones I have glow green in color.

XS Big Dot.

Got them on three of my guns and really like them.

Just put Trijicon HD night sights on a Sig P365 and although they are a great improvement, I might have liked the XS Big Dot better.

I thought I would like the Big Dot, and it does work as advertised. However it does cover a LOT of the target. I much prefer Heinie Straight 8 Sights. One radioactive dot on the front sight and one on the rear. The front sight is serrated, and the rear sight has a generous clearance that I find a help with my aging eyes. Oh, and the rear sight has serrations as well. A high quality sight.

Trijicon has the best standard size tritium sights in the galaxy. Long life and moderate relamping fees.

I grew up shooting some 20 years before tritium sights were even offered and then some time before they became regular on LE handguns . I have a gold bead in a commander front sights but other wise my target pistol is black sights my other carry option has the rear dots blacked out with a brite yellow small front dot . .

When its dark enough you can see night sights you also need a gun or handheld light to be sure of your target . At that point once the lights on Black or white dot sights show up very well eve in your aimed or peripheral vision .

I do prefer a green fiber front sight black rears in natrual light conditions or even the truglow tfo front sights that was on a used handgun I have but even that is no better than basic black with you need a light too . You should also not be using a sight focus but a threat focus and be able to see your slide or maybe sights are well centered in your peripheral vision .
