My previous post is a 4" 586. Don't know why I didn't say so. Figured y'all would know without my say so but here's my say so anyway.

I've seen the opposite locally a few years ago. 6" Non-pinned but recessed marked 629 in the wood clamshell box. Seems to be little consistency in the transition time frame.

For sure

We had a pretty good thread going a few years ago, Doc44 chimed in with some serial numbers and dates on the early 629’s

I realize that it is not Sunday any more, but here are my late submissions: (just like my homework was in school)
Model 67 no dash from 1973
Model 28 no dash from 1960
Model 586 no dash from 1983, no M stamp
I do have correct stocks for the 586. No boxes for them.
My photography leaves something to be desired! Bob

Those are very nice grips on the 28!

Sunday came and went...

yeah, I'm late to the party, but I REALLY like this thread, and feel compelled to contribute. Honey-do's been keeping me way too busy, lately.
I wasn't trying to collect anything, in particular, when I started buying Smith & W revolvers. I saw stuff I liked, and, thanks to the good people on this forum, was able to make some educated buying decisions. These are my No Dashes, all K's.

Thanks! My father bought them in the 60's. He mistaken had put them on a 4th change 6" M&P, shipped June 1919 that he had. My son has care of the gun now along with another from his other passed Grandfather. Bob

I can only think of 3 right now. My 696, Highway Patrolman 28 and a 4516. I don't know if the 631, 6906, 1076, 4566 or 4046 ever had "dash revisions", so I won't count them. (unless I hear different)

Hard to pick a favorite out of them, so I'm not gonna try. :D

I dug these two out...
I went pretty deep into the gang box this morning looking for a -3, 5” gun for another thread.
Grabbed a quick photo and said, why not:D
So let’s see your no dash guns
Hope you like the pics and more importantly enjoy your day off
Yowza, Yowza, Yowsa. Very sweet

Gentlemen I must apologize for deceiving you all . the 66 i posted earlier in this thread is a dash 2 . here's the no dash . please forgive me . kenny :confused:
I was about to call you on that :D, but no matter. the dash-2 looks great, too.

The other guns shown in the second pic are a 66-2 and a 66-1, you can ignore them.
Thanks to everyone who's participating.
Who can ignore a nice S&W stainless, no matter the presence or absence of a dash?

OOOOOH, a first year production gun, too! (stainless rear sight)

I only have one no-dash S&W. I present my 1968 vintage, S prefix M57 6". It had the vent rib on it when I got it, and I did not get a set of factory stocks. It has the smoothest action of all my revolvers (only 5), but they are all P&R magnums.
