No-Fly list to stop gun purchases in Massachusetts

What list are they gonna use to stop the purchase of plumbing supplies, 4th of July fireworks, etc...? .

I stopped to stretch my legs & browse at a Phantom fireworks in Ohio a few months back. They wanted to make a copy of my license and have me sign a document swearing that I would leave the state within 24 hrs... before I could enter the store!
I pointed out the irony of trying to turn me into a criminal for wanting to celebrate Independence Day, and permanently walked out.

Would it surprise any of us if a certain elected official who hates the NRA moved to put all NRA members on the do not fly list? I guess the message is buy guns while you can.

Bingo. You hit the nail right on the head.
A huge back door anti gun scheme.

Wrong. There is no criminal conviction, charge, or other legal proceeding required to get on the list. In fact, no one is quite sure how people get on the list because the government refuses to divulge that information.

There is no legal appeal process, no one to file a complaint with, no recourse. Once you are on the list, you are on the list pretty much forever.

If you're comfortable with that sort of process for depriving a person of their 2A rights, that's up to you. I'm not.

Deport those on the list. Problem solved. If a US citizen on "the list" committed a crime bad enough to be black listed from commercial flights , they wouldn't be able to purchase a gun legally anyway, right?

The no-fly list is the new MWAG 911 call--presumed guilty until proven innocent and to hell with due process.

I can't help wondering if someone in the government proposed to keep people from voting who were on the no-fly or terrorist watch list would those who see no problem with denying gun purchases support it?

"Right now, people on the No-Fly list can walk into a store and buy a gun. That is insane. If you're too dangerous to board a plane, you're too dangerous, by definition, to buy a gun"

Nope. To keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. That's not insane, it's the US Constitution.

Now, if you think someone is too dangerous (as in terrorist dangerous) feel free to propose banning the purchase of non-Constitutionally protected items that terrorists have been known to use in their trade. Put them on the No Pressure Cooker list, nuts and bolts, fireworks, remote control car devices and cell phones, steel pipe... and such. Oh, and don't forget US Postal stamps.

Anti-gun zealots will keep dreaming up stuff. Remain vigilant against their antics. Join the NRA.

When it becomes acceptable to the American people that they can have access to their "rights" if and only if they can keep a secret organizational system from putting them on a no fly/no buy/no internet, etc. list, the end of this grand experiment is over and tyranny will rule. Due process and the right to face your accusers is paramount in our justice system.

With what we MA guys have to go through to get a license to carry, full local, state and federal background checks, fingerprints and $100 every six years, we should be on the "no-frisk" list. We deserve a special red carpet boarding gate and a champagne reception in first class. Not holding my breath.
