Do to the last ten or so days, I'm emotionally drained and need some diversion. I've noticed no westerns on TV lately. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good classic and vintage western to watch? I'm at a blank. I'm looking for ideas that are no newer than 1970.

I've been trying to pay some attention to he Branded TV series w/ Chuck Connors but, its not clicking much with me even though several episodes were rather good. One even had four greats as guests like, Gene Evans, Pat Conway, Michael Ansara and another whose name I can't think of. That aside, I hated seeing all of the above, as he bad guys.

Not a western ...... but TCM currently showing "The Wind and the Lion" ......a north African western.......LOL
They showed "55 Days at Peking", last week. It's sort of an "Eastern Western", with the Boxers and the Imperial Army filling in for the Comanches, and Charleton Heston and David Niven filling in for John Wayne and Errol Flynn...

I have a hankerin' to see "Waterhole #3" again. It has one of my favorite gunfight scenes, the one where Lewton Cole (James Coburn) is challenged to a gunfight, so he shoots the gunfighter from long range, from behind his (the gunfighter's) horse, with a rifle. Not a great movie, but entertaining enough. The soundtrack is awesome, though, it's Roger Miller and Dave Grusin.

Also, "The Scalphunters" (Telly Savalas makes a great bad guy!) and "The Good Guys and the Bad Guys" (the gunfight scene in the tunnel alone is worth watching this one) are westerns I'd like to re-watch fairly soon.

Need western fix?

I'm watching Rawhide now on "6 gun Saturday" on ME-TV now. They show old westerns all afternoon on Saturday and 12 pm to 3 pm weekdays. Same ones we watched as kids. Read forum during commercials. Wanted Dead or Alive just came on now. See ya'll later.:) I even know how Paladin became the paladin on "Have Gun Will Travel. Think it was the pilot show. Save the computer for commericals. My second grade teacher even looked like Richard Boone and wore black skirt & belt with a knight on the buckle most days. I'll never forget her, MS. Starr.

Watched a different kind of western last week on Netflix - "The Dark Valley".
Basically a German western shot in the Alps. Not too bad if you can do subtitles.

Grit Television has westerns,I watch Zane Grey Theater and Laramie while having Coffee in the Morning.
