Despite it being years old, I only just became aware of this thing, a M14-pattern rifle but modified (very slightly) to shoot the 7.62x39. Of course we in the USA can't buy them but our neighbors to the north bought a bunch of them over the years. Even though we can't get whole rifles, I'm a little surprised to have never seen a "parts kit" or conversion kit available given the implacable need for weird guns we in the states exhibit.

I’d definitely be into a rifle like that! Like an M1A and SKS had a baby!!

I had one of the 7.62x51 M14 NORINCO copies back in the late 1980's I guess.

I remember it was a decent enough rifle, but I ended up trading it for something else to add to my "battle rifle" collection.

Back in those days, reports were that there were some that came in with soft receivers, and developed head space issues.

Best to read at least a couple of credible non-YouTube evaluations of these before rushing to buy one.

I had one of those Norinco M-14's in the early 90's. Replaced the fake flash hider with a real one. I figured out it was junk. Luckily someone was happy to take it off my hands. I have never seen the 7.62x39 version. I don't think I'm missing anything.

I have a Norinco 22ATD (copy of the Browning 22 auto take down model). It was a gift.

Since I got it, it has probably fired less than 100 rounds before breaking, repairs were $75 + parts to have the shell lifter replaced. Worked for about 35 rounds, broke again. Fit and finish is lousy.

I'm waiting for one of those gun buy backs to dump the thing, I'll never buy anything made by Norinco.

I have no idea why someone would want the M1A, a very good platform in 7.62 Nato, in a very inferior cartridge. If you like the full size rifle as a shooting weapon, why not enjoy it in it's full glory. The Mini 30 was never highly popular in and of itself. The AK has always been the weapon of choice for the 7.62 x 39. There is a reason for that. Think about it.
