Long time lurker, first time panicked...

Called S&W. Without seeing it, described it as normal:

Normal

It's due to the method used to make the part. Mine and all others I have seen have this.

Relax, and enjoy the one pistol I still want to get.

Thank you sir!

Should I add that I'm shooting my shield Idpa for the first time tonight? My plan is to rotate between the 2.

How many rounds do you have approx. through it?

My one has low round count and doesn't show that... yet.

Just upload this picture to Flicker so you may see what that part looks like on three of my M&P's. This mark is easily seen on the 40, and not so much on the other two. From left to right, 9L, 40FS, 45FS,

Good idea about using your M&P for IDPA. That's what I got the 9L and the 45 FS for.

JJEH- I have about a thousand rounds through it. Just shot it for a few hours so when I get it cleaned up tonight I'll take another look and take another picture to see if there's any change.

I saw a test where the M&P they were abusing (no cleaning, no oiling, rapid fire) broke down in only 65,000 rounds with a cracked frame.... S&W examined it and gave them the go ahead to continue using it as it wasn't that bad, but they stopped the test.

Probably because they couldn't hear anymore and their arms were like jelly. :D

My M&P 9C has the same mark with 500 rounds but my M&P 9F wit 1500 rounds does not. Ordered right now one locking block, just in case.
