I am thinking about going to a gun show in North Carolina this winter. Looking around on the internet, I see several. Does anyone here go to gun shows in North Carolina? Which would you consider the best or biggest? Any must sees or shows to avoid? Thanks for any advice, Waldo.

The Greensboro Gun Show is held twice yearly, usually January and August. It's one of the biggest in NC, and a handful of Forum and SWCA guys attend.
The Raleigh show is also pretty large, but I haven't been there in a decade or so. Not sure the dates.

Next Raleigh show is November 17/18. There are two different companies that have Raleigh shows. We refer to them as the "big show" (Dixie Gun and Knife) and "small show" (C&E). November is the big show, December is the small show.

That said, I think the Greensboro shows are the best I've been to. They are actual gun shows, not junk, jerky, knife, jewelry shows. Greensboro is a quality over quantity show. Greensboro is a dangerous show for me. I have come home with one more gun than I left with every time except one and that was the last show where I came home with two more.

The Dixie shows have the better reputation. I'd stay away from the C&E ones, based on what I have seen of their offerings here in Fayetteville. Sounds like Greensboro might be the top dog. I might have to check that one out myself some time!

C&E in Raleigh is better than Fayetteville, but no where near the size of the Dixie in Raleigh. Dixie in Raleigh is bigger than Greensboro, but not the quality if one is looking for S&W's, particularly revolvers.

Attended Raleigh shows most of my adult life, even worked at a handful of them.
And like every other ol' guy, I lament that they are certainly not what they used to be....

Since moving to the coast in 2015, was curious about what shows there may be like. Attended one (C&E I believe) at Craven Co. (New Bern) Fairgrounds about 2016.
OMG - worst I've ever seen. Chinese cutlery and fantasy blades, gourmet peanuts, homemade jewelry, 'memorial boxes' (large military population in area), Hi-Points, Jiminez, Mossbergs, shopworn overpriced ammo.
Nothing of any interest at ALL.

Did attend a small show near home, outside Beaufort at a Shriner's Club a few weeks ago. Not sure of the company sponsoring it. Much better quality stuff, knowledgeable, affable dealers. No, didn't buy, but was glad to see it was better that the previous experience.

From up here in NE Ohio.I always try to time my visits to a friend in Salisbury to gun show dates. I haven't been to a NC show in about 3 years now, but back then Charlotte (C&E) was great, Concord (C&E) don't remember much about it, Raleigh (C&E) a good show, and Winston-Salem (C&E) terrible small show. I typically go down in early spring and late fall. I do the gun show circuit here in NE Ohio and some here are great and some not so great, so shows are going to vary.

Greensboro show in January is pretty good. Just remember you need an FFL to ship to you being from NOVA

Just had one in Asheville the other weekend. Missed it as I had to work the weekend.

Louisville's National Gun Day gun show is Oct 26, 27 and Ron Dickson is going all out to promote it. Already running a fresh new radio ad on Rush Limbaugh show and he sent an email around a couple weeks ago that he was adding more tables. NGD is billed as the largest gs east of Mississippi River and 2nd biggest in USA, a far 2nd behind Tulsa. I'm expecting a good turn out and Dickson runs a quality show.

Expo Center will be interesting Saturday 27th. Not only will National GunDay be in the Expo Center, but also a Jehovah's Witness Assembly and Witches Night Out. Something for everybody.
