I am in NC visiting my sister and her family and my son and his family in Concord NC. I was traveling up Rt 29 today as far North as Salisbury and I saw pawn/guns shops everywhere. Impressive! I'm from NE Ohio and we have have maybe 3 pawn shops in about a 10 mile radius of us but probably 8 guns shops proper in that radius. Most are small single owner shops. It seems like NC has far more pawn/gun shops, at least in this area. I stopped into one "Pearls" I believe in China Grove. It was very similar to Ohio pawn shops. very few if any older S&W revolvers.. there was 1 model 66-2 4" but that was all. Also no metal frame 1-3rd Gen S&Ws either. Lots of polymer guns. . Prices seemed like Ohio's too..quite high. But at least where I buy in pawn shop those prices are very flexible by as much as 50%. I don't know about NC. Just some observations of a traveling gun enthusiast.

If you drove near Fort Brag you'd probably see a million of them. I swear, when I was at Fort Hood, there was one street in Kileen that had a stretch a mile long with nothing but pawn shops on either side of the road.

Those probably go straight on gun broker

Its something that developed in the last 5 or 6 years, and the marginal pawn shops come and go very quickly. I have noticed they have some of the absolute worst junk I have ever seen in their cases. Dirty and rusty off brand and cheap stuff no one would want and they ask high prices !
I have also been in some well run shops and I did buy a very nice model-19 for a very good $450 price.I haven`t done a pawn run in a couple of years, maybe its time for another visit?

I get down to NC,Salisbury area, sometimes, got a friend that lives there. I plan my trips there around the gun shows of Charlotte,Concord,& Raleigh. We do the shows,I also do Carowinds while I'm down there. We also search/hit food places(Food Channel-Drive ins,Diners,Dives) for eats. I'll have to start watching/looking for pawn shops.
Last time down there,he took me to Gary's Barbecue in China Grove. Food was good, decor was great in the theme of 50s'/60s' signage.

There is a gun show in Charlotte this weekend...right now...about a 20-minute drive from Concord. If it's like the others, it'll be like visiting a giant pawn shop. C'mon down.

There is one vendor who'll probably be there...a fellow SWCA member...he always has a few nice older Smiths. I've bought several from him.

Pawn shops, hair weave joints and massage parlors fill many vacuums created by Walmart.

Plenty of Pawn Shops in Clarksville TN - Fort Campbell home of The 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles").

Boy, that brings back memories. When I was a company commander of a maintenance company with 1st Cav, I had a CID agent come to my motor pool with a general mechanic's toolbox full of tools that were etched with " E CO, 27 MT BN, 1CD" that one of my less than stellar soldiers pawned. Turns out CID used to check all the pawn shops for Government property on regular basis. I remember on the report of survey that he had claimed someone stole his toolbox out of the tool room.

Are you still in Concord?

Get on Copperfield Blvd. and stop at Captains Galley Shack and order their catfish filet, salt peppered, you will not be sorry if you like catfish!

No we were in Ohio by the time you posted this yesterday. Its a straight shot up I 77 535 miles. 8 1/2 hours . the Mrs and myself left early Sunday morning. No traffic that way. I will remember this when I return. My son and my sister both live there with their families.

I was down in Jacksonville NC visiting my daughter a few weeks ago and I noticed the same thing there! Pawnshops everywhere. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to poke my head into even one of them. I'm planning to remedy that when the wife and I drive back down in couple of weeks.
