I am visiting jekyell lsiand in Georgia and when we went to get the full service car wash I went inside to get a drink and sit down. now here is the question, while in the car wash area in the middle of the store is a POST OFFICE...HOW WOULD THIS BE CONSIDERED in ccw,off limits or safe...I didn't ask for obvious reasons but I don't want to go to jail either for not knowing what is right or wrong...thanks if anyone can help...for a little more info the seats for waiting is in front of a ribbon for the post office but the post office is in full view when paying for the car wash and yes there is a small sign on the door post office....thanks again LeRoy

For me, concealed is concealed. I don't flaunt that I carry, and as I've said before, I don't allow someone else to choose where and when I carry.

Now let's be clear. I'm not advocating breaking the law nor am I advising anyone to do so. But the only way someone will ever discover I'm carrying is to physically search me or wind up looking down the barrel from the wrong side.

Concealed is concealed. YMMV.

I am in the same mindset as you BUT IF searched for some reason that is a federal offense then...not really sure if or where the line is drawn for something like this...never seen it before and hope to never see it again...it was a surprise

I understand, and have seen what you describe. The Post Office at the farm is in the General Store. I'm sure that in the event of a robbery and prosecution it would be an additional charge, but I'm not sure how it would be handled otherwise.

Here in Wyoming we have a Post Office in the local Ace Hardware store. I have wondered if I can go into the hardware portion carrying or not.

I agree. Concealed is concealed. Hope big brother isn't reading this. But I go there armed all the time.

I don't advocate breaking the law either. But I am not going to unholster my gun just to go to the post office. Besides, the post office is never closed and there are no cameras. So you don't know who's in there.

That stupid law always pisses me too...

What the heck does that mean that you need to disarm yourself just to go in a post office to drop a Netflix envelope to the outgoing mail box.

Even if your unarmed spouse takes the Netflix envelope inside and post office and you wait outside in the car at the post office parking lot, still, you are Guilty of breaking this stupid law!

Geeez!

Is being stupid a requirement in order to become a lawmaker ?

Well, I guess I'll take the opposite position...I won't knowingly break the law. I've been to the post office many, many times, and I can honestly say that I never needed a gun there. I realize that something could happen, but where I live it's a remote possibility. If I really thought I would be in such danger that I needed to violate the law and possibly face a felony conviction, my first course of action would be to avoid the danger by not going to the post office.

There are other places where you can't legally carry in Texas, and I don't carry in those places either. While I wish the law didn't restrict places where I can carry, the fact is the law does. So, I'm willing to leave my gun locked in the car safe while I run an errand for a few minutes. Maybe my perspective is somewhat different since we don't live in a high crime area, but I believe that being responsible includes obeying the laws...even the ones I disagree with.

Is this "Post Office" run by Post Offgice employees, or is it a "franchise" Post Office located inside the car wash and run by employees of the car wash? If it is the latter, then I would think you would be ok since it is not federal property.

Murphy's Law would seem to dictate that the one time you do actually need a gun, it will be when you don't have one. So if you ALWAYS have one, you will never need it. Works for me.
I have "accidently" carried into the PO for a quick package-mailing, and given my forgetful nature will probably do so again in the future. No harm, no foul. Keep it concealed unless needed, and no one will be the wiser-- but if it is needed, they will be thankful.

I wouldn't count on that, in today's climate...especially in some states. You might end up being arrested and charged with a felony, even if you save someone else's life. Crazy and stupid, I know, but that is what we deal with today.
