Not too shabby SW on the shield.

I have a glock 26; it has never had any malfunctions. I became fond of it. I've been eyeing the shield for sometime and like its slimness for use as a summer carry, so I decided to pick one up.

When it first arrived I couldn't help but notice the aesthetics, it is no doubt a handsome little gun compared to the glock. However, who cares about looks when it comes to function. Comparing them the glock was built like a tank compared to the shield's parts. The glock had a stronger thicker recoil spring and rod. In other words the shield looked pretty cheap compared to it.

Moreover the glock has a crisp trigger pull and a noticeable reset you can't miss. The shield had a gritty pull to it with a less than desirable reset. I'll spare you the other comparisons, which I'm sure has been beaten to death.

Got back from the range shield had 0 malfunctions, nice. Had several bullseyes. I'm quite impressed. The gun is slowly catching up to my g26 love. This is my first S&W firearm as well. Not bad S&W.

I hope you like it more each time you shoot it. I've got a FS 9 M&P and the little brother M&P 22. Other than an old Raven arms 25 pocket pistol I got back in the 70's these are my first pistols. I like them quite well. Broken these down dozens of times but never a Glock. Are they really that much sturdier internally?

I always enjoyed the Glock trigger, no doubt about that. And they were built like tanks, no doubt there either. The Shield will grow on you and eventually the Glock will end up in the safe just as mine did for several months before I decided to trade it for another AR.

However, IMO they just werent built for a CC weapon. Big and bulky just doesnt live up to my standards as a CC weapon. The 26, is a baby compared to other Glocks. However, the 26 is still bulky, IMO.

IF Glock ever decides to make a weapon that can compete with the Shield in the CC department. I will be the first to admit that I will in fact own one, lol.

I am in the process of coming full circle from Glock to M&P. Like the op, I got Glocks because they are built tough and rarely fail. BUT........I was wanting a .22 handgun so I fondled an M&P 22 at LGS and loved the fit in my hand. I bought it, took it home, then found out on this forum, the M&P 9 full size are basically the same size and ergonomics.
After messing around over and over practicing quick target acquisition, with my G19 Gen4 vs the .22, I found I was consistently more on target with the .22. So, I sold the G19 and bought a M&P 9 full size to go with the .22.
Just this morning I ordered a Shield to replace my G26 Gen4, which is now for sale. It will be my carry piece and should be much more comfortable with it's narrower width. That was always my beef with the G26. But besides that, I have nothing bad to say about Glocks

I too jumped ship from Glock to a S&W Shield. I was a die hard Glock guy but after playing with a Shield I was sold. I have been waiting on Glock to make a single stack 9 just like the Shield.

Sold both G19's last month and I am not looking back.

Nope, definitely won't sale the g26. After dry firing them side by side the glock is heavenly. Racking the slide on the g26 is like butter, the shield not so much. Granted the gun is new, but so is the g26 for the most part had it less than a year. But DAT glock trigger break and reset. That reset will knock your chubby fingers forward if it has to to let you know. lol

If this Shield didn't shoot like it did (pretty darn accurate), it would only have its fine looks to go off of according to me. As for size the glock is only thicker of course, but really doesn't bother me for a 4oclock carry. It is shorter compared to the shield which is great for what it was made for (concealment.)

Just my honest review. I agree if glock ever made a single stack g26 style gun, game over.

I have carried both the G26, and the Shield. The Shield carries way better than the Glock. And shoots every bit as good. Personably I have no problem with the trigger on the Shield. And can ride around all day in my truck with it on my side at 5 o'clock without it digging in to my waistband. WAAAAAY better gun to carry.
