We subscribe to Netflix and Amazon and spend way too much time looking for something to watch that we have not seen multiple times and that is actually worth watching. Most of the movies are years old, and even the few that are descent, we have seen too many times. We have dropped HBO and SHO because what is on one today is on the other tomorrow and has already been on Netflix or Amazon.

I can't tell you how many times we will log onto Youtube or Xfinity and watch an old B&W movie from the 1940's. There are many and believe it or not, there are some we have not seen yet. The ones we have seen and choose to watch again are just classics!

I believe that some of the new and better films we've watched lately are actually foreign films. Some are dubbed into English and some have subtitles, but at least some are worth dealing with. Most of the junk coming out of Hollywood lately is unwatchable - at least to us. It seems they just can't think of new story lines, new concepts and movies that are not almost carbon copies of dozens of other films - basically the same story line.

The last "series" we thought was actually quite good was "The Americans". I believe that was an 8 season series and we did enjoy it - pretty realistic if you ask me! The rest of the series we have tried we either got bored of in 2 or 3 episodes or was just terrible.

Thankfully, we both have hobbies to keep us busy after giving up on TV. We have also just about stopped going to the movie theatre as the films made today (for the most part) are not worth going to. The last in-theatre movie we saw that I thought was descent was "Regan". I don't even remember the titles of most we have seen in the past as they are not worth remembering!

Oh - we do watch some documentaries as well but we have seen most of the ones we am interested in already. Basically.... pretty Slim Picken's these days!

Paramount + Lioness, Tulsa, Landman, Tracker, Fire Watch.
Netflix wife loves all the Christmas shows out
Hulu wife finds junk to watch.
All three less than $30 a month and I can stop them anytime
I don't watch a lot of TV, but when I want to watch it, I want to watch now.
Since the bottom two are mostly the wife's they have commercials making them cheap

6 years ago after Dish went up twice in two months I gave up TV and sold my TV. Had Amazon Prime but most of the free movies were junk. When I wanted to watch a movie made in the 1930s they were going to charge me so I dropped Prime. I haven't watched a movie in years and don't miss them at all. Back 50 years ago I loved movies but care less now.

If you like crime drama, check out the Topic channel on Amazon. It's an additional subscription ($5/mo, IIRC), but has a lot of good European series. They are best in the original languages with subtitles, but many are also available dubbed in English.

It is frustrating that so much content (older movies especially) that used to show up on late night cable must be purchased or rented because it's not included in the subscription content.

There’s always Chess & Checkers, Monopoly, Crazy Eights, etc.
When I’m bored for something on TV, I go t to TMC. No commercials. Gun smoke is probably on right now on INSP. I can’t sit in front of the TV unless it’s funny, gory, or a combination of the two.

We get Paramount free with our Walmart+ and MAX free with our Cricket cell phone plan. Then I watch some of the free ones but Tubi is the best of that bunch. I have Peacock but it's about to expire. Watch for Black Friday specials, I got Peacock for a year for $10 last Black Friday.

Mostly we watch over-the-air. I've taken to recording old movies off it. Yesterday I watched "Tony Rome" (Frank Sinatra) and have another of his movies waiting... "Lady in Cement". One of the channels (Movies!) always has "Film Noir" selections.

Dark Winds, based on Tony Hillerman's Navajo police novels, and The Lincoln Lawyer, based on Michael Connelly's novels, are two Netflix series that I enjoy. FWIW.

Certainly Band of Brothers and The Pacific if you haven't seen them.
