I read that the magazine capacity restrictions for retired LE officers has been changed to unrestricted by King Cuomo. While I am pleased to see that I can now not risk arrest if I forget to swap 'em out before going I feel strongly that everyone should be permitted to carry standard capacity magazines. The Second belongs to us all.

the restriction is lifted only for a firearm that you qualified with in your last year of service and only if you requalify every 3 years. the firearm must also be registered as a high capacity firearm in addition to the registration it already holds in new york state on your permit.

So this applies only to NY state officers or all retiree's ? If you can fill me in with more info I would appreciate it sir.

Yes it only applies to the weapons you used and qualified with while on the job. Must re-qualify every three years. Another stupid fix for a stupid law in my opinion. And I am not lugging around my old service weapon so i can carry extra rounds.

I believe there are a few more stipulations. You have had to be working as a LEO for a minimum of five years and have left the job "in good standing." Apparently the rest of us who live in this state but have not worked as LEOs can never achieve "good standing." I can't wait to vote against this ego maniac we have for a governor. I don't care if the Republicans run a frog as his opponent.
