I just got home a little while ago. It was packed, but not as many vendors as usual. Not just Dan, but others missing, too. There were open tables along the side wall.
Some nice items. I ended up buying 200 .30 cal bullets. Not real cheap, but Sierra and Nosler. I plan on stuffing them in old .30-06 hulls this winter.
And I splurged and bought 200 empty .380 cases. I've got about twice that number polished, so I'll soon be pinching my fingers trying to decap and resize them. There was a beautiful K22 Outdoorsman along the left wall. I'd guess 95% with a box. Asking $1600, and probably worth it. I found and bought a pair of sling connectors. No, not swivels but the ones that Browning used on its B78 guns long ago. I've only been looking for a pair for 20+ Years. I probably don't own a sling worthy of the guns I plan on putting it on. Lets just call it a carry strap. The little things look like a swivel but don't. They just push in the recessed screw head and turn 90 degrees. Pretty secure. I can just see me putting them on the presentation grade BiCentennial B78 and hauling it around.
I was kind of impressed with some of the guns. My son wants to go back up first thing tomorrow and see if the BLR is still there. Nice gun at a good price (Grade II).
I've heard the OGCA administration is becoming a bit too overbearing. It seems like they feel they own the exhibitors. If a member is caught with a table at another show, they send them some hate mail. A while back that jerk Goodman did that. A friend told them in advance that he wasn't getting a table at a show because it conflicted with the Blade Show in Atlanta. The next show it looked OK, Goodman and his minions took the table rent, but instead of his normal spot, they put him up in the mezzaine at Hara Arena. Right by a bunch of hillbillies and cut-ups. Then they came up later to tell him they'd try to get him back in the main floor, where he'd been for years. He told them not to bother. But then he's never gone to another of their shows.
I guess its a hint. They just don't own us or our guns. Its why shows go downhill over time. With OGCA they seem to have 3 groups. The administration, the exhibitors, and the walk-ins. Not sure why those in power feel a need to punish or **** on the others. One of the more offensive things a promoter can do is talk on the PA all the time. I guess they feel the folks who stop to rest need a good yelling. To me, the folks looking like ladies of the evening along the front wall aren't nearly as offensive as the constant yelling at them. Oh well.
