My long time friend passed away three years ago. His widow finally asked me to help her liquidate his vast collection of firearms. He was am Oakland Police Officer for many years. The OPD carried S&W 686 no dash 4 inch revolvers for several years. When they transitioned to semi-auto pistols, they sold the surplus 686's to their officers. My friend bought one and then found a 2.5 had it installed. Yesterday I brought it home to now reside in my former LEO firearm collection.

My friend said it was his revolver that he carried, but all his OIS were when he was in SWAT

Oakland (CA) no longer sells surplus guns, except to the officer who carried them, which they have to do if the officer requests to buy it. Otherwise they scrap them.
