Found an old lanyard loop. Identical to one from a S&W 1917 or Victory , but the shank is .100" longer with the cross pin groove an equal amount higher.
Anyone have an idea what it could be for?

Nope , ain't for a Colt. That's how I got it. I was looking for one for my 1917 Colt , but this didn't fit. I figured it was for a Smith so I kept it , but it don't fit.

Hmmm , interesting possibility. I guess the stock of and tooling for the old ones would be long gone.

The lanyard loop on the S&W RHKP Model 10 is
round, not rectangular.

Looks exactly like the one on my Colt DA M1903 left wheeler. The little shoulder makes is stand out farther from the butt than a Victory, or either M1917's.
