OEM 9mm barrel works fine in SW40VE (vid proof)

Used a .40 cal mag too but the final round wouldn't feed. Shoots great, outer dimensions are the same as the 40 barrel. Here's the vid.

IIRC the 40 magazine is too big to fit in the 9mm SD & the 9mm magazine is loose & wobbles around in the 40 making using the wrong one difficult
@Ruger Nut might be able to answer the magazine question as IIRC He just picked up a SD40 to be the mate to a SD9

I dunno. Seems they are pretty darn close. The first 13 rounds feed fine. The last one stays on the follower as seen in the vid.

The barrel will fit, always did.
The 9mm magazine does NOT fit the .40 SW frame. Too loose to be reliable
Saw it tried multiple times up to 10 years ago.
One guy declared success because it would feed about 50%.
NOT my definition of success.
Beating the same dead horse, IMHO.

Try it (on camera) will a fully loaded magazine, a couple of rounds doesn't say much.

You're correct HK.
And I didn't buy the SD40. When the seller found out how much Academy was selling them NIB for ($399.95) they raised the price from $300 to $375. I would just rather spend the extra $25 for a NIB SD40.
I won't be buying one anytime soon, unless one comes up for sale @ $300 or less.
