This Christmas money Mom sent me was just burning a hole in my pocket. I managed to hold onto it for a week. :) I keep telling her "Mom, I'm 56 years old, DON'T SEND ME XMAS CHECKS!" but she does anyway.

I am waiting for the FFL transfer (NIB, shipping from Texas)

Reproduction Colt 1873 US Cavalry 45 Long Colt.
My 2nd revolver. (First being a S&W .357 mag) Should be a nice companion with my original Trapdoor rifle. Like the trapdoor, this one will be reloaded in black powder.

Standard model.
Cimarron Firearms US CAV .45LC 7.5-inch Gen CUSTER

I have this strange fascination with Colt open top cartridge revolvers. Just can't seem to bring myself to buy one.
Funny, your story sounds similar to me only it's my MIL. Her and my FIL spoil the grand kids at Christmas and me and the wife get a nice check. When we tell them to stop we get "we're not going to wait till we're dead!".

I also purchased a Pietta SAA in .45 Colt over the summer. It
is blue with 4 3/4" bbl. The price of real Colt SAA's puts them
out of my price range. Haven't shot it yet.

Nice 6 shooters,,or 5 shooters,,

They make some pretty nice SAA clones and have done so for some years now.
I've used the cylinders from them in a few instances years back and fit them to real Colts for second caliber option. That;s when the real things weren't such untouchable collectibles.

I do have one of the Uberti/Cimmaron 1872 Open Top revolvers now. Had it for maybe 5 yrs and love it. 44spec cal.
Bought 2 at the time, one nickel in their '44Colt (44 Russian) and still NIB,,I resold that one and kept the slightly used c/c and blued 44sp.
A few bumps and bruises on it but I got it for a very good price. Nice shooter,,something a bit different.

^^^^what THEY said! My family worked like that. Why wait for a holiday? If you love someone, make a holiday!

IIRC, the modern open tops are chmbered for .38 Spl, or is there .44/.45 also? Happy new year!

Uberti lists them in 38 spl. and 45 LC. Cimarron arms has them also in 44 spl./Colt/Russian and if I'm not mistaken they are made by Uberti. That's the caliber I'd want. A proper revolver caliber! Besides, already reload 44 spl.

open tops ubertis

I have two of the 1871/72 open tops in .44 speical.(7 1/2 inch barrles) another 1851 open top in.38 special and one in .44 special.(both with 51/2 inch barrels) we have a plate rack down here in the south Houston area and I've run all six plates with all four guns many times. I really like them. I also have a 1873 in .38-40(5 1/2 in barrel) and it's a real sweetheart. they are all quite accurate.(yes, I shot cowboy with all of them at one time or another ), I also sho t the plate rack with a Smith model 544! it's in .44-40 with a 5 inch barrel. it's quite accurate too!

Mine's a Flat Top Target in .45 Colt. You are gonna enjoy that smokewheel!

BTW, the cartridges have nothing to do with the revolver. They are, L. to R., 6.5 Benchrest Magnum, .30-30, .300 Benchrest Magnum.

Can't have too many single action revolvers,I even end up using most of my double action ones primarily as single actions! They just feel right!

While not a Colt or even a Uberti, my replica is a Pietta.
I think they're both owned by Beretta now. Anyway, I have two from Uberti, too, one in 357 and one in 22 (this is their smaller frame 7/8 scale I think).

Anyone have one of their 12 shot 22s? I've almost bought one previously, and keep wondering. I' love to see a S&W N-frame in 22lr, say a 15 rounder!
