Went to the gunshow in Topeka, Kansas today. I didn't find anything that I was looking for but there were some deals to be had. Counted a dozen model 64's with the 3 inch barrel, all priced between $300-$325. Most were double action only with bobbed hammers. Saw 2 3 inch model 65's. One was priced at $400, the other at $375. Obviously LEO trade-ins, a little rough but they would clean up. Saw a couple of P&R model 19's, blued, decent shape. They could be had for $400. Also came across an old Kansas Highway Patrol Model 66-1, P&R. Typical old LEO duty gun but it was serviceable. Only priced at $350.

Had 2 guns I thought about. A real nice early 659 with adjustable sights. Spoke to the dealer and I could have gotten it for $375 but I passed for now. I know the dealer and may see if he still has it.

The other one I thought about was a model 640 Centenial. A little rough around the edges but would have cleaned up. It was priced at $499, dealer went down to $465. I passed on it too.

This show will still be going on tomorrow, Sunday, December 12th, if anyone has an interest and can make it.

I didn't even hear about this one. That $350 66-1 would have been mine if I'd been there. I might drive up tomorrow if the honeydo list isn't too long, but I have a feeling it will be. I'm just north of Wichita.

If you make it up there, turn right as you go through the door and head for the north wall. When you get to the north wall head to the west. There are a couple of tables of people selling junk and the first dealer past them is the one with the model 66-1. It is in a glass case on his table. Sorry I did not get his name.

357larry,

Thanks for the report. I was planning on going this morning but have been fighting a cold for the past couple of days that I caught while bird hunting in western Kanas. Hope I feel better tomorrow so I can go. Not sure what I will be looking for.

I usually go to that show but it seems like it was always in January. Is there another one soon?

They have 2 different promoters who put on shows there. One advertises that it is a collectors show and those usually have more junk and non-gun related stuff than they do guns. The promoter putting on the current show, R.K. Shows Inc., is okay. The last few years they have put on a show right before Christmas and they have been pretty good. You just have to pay attention as to which promoter is putting on a particular show.
