Hello,from warm and pleasant south Florida. I need some help cause I’m not finding any info. I am the recipient of a “chiefs special” that belonged to my late father in law. I tried the S&W serial number page and information not available. If anyone can help,the serial number is J379152. My wife and I would like to know about this revolver. Thanks for your time and knowledge.

I also have a model 14-3 that has a serial number beginning with 1K we think it was bought in 71

J379152 was likely produced in 1976, and 1K prefix K frames were made in both 1970 and 1971. Official "birth" or ship dates are available with a letter of authenticity, requests for which are currently on hold.
