Personally I destroy mine. Some of the information written in these journals is of a private nature only meant for the eyes of fellow members. Members of the S&WCA adhere to a strict code and there is a very important honor system observed at the gun room during the annual Symposiums that outsiders may not adhere to.

Types and sizes of collections are not usually broadcast to the public for fear of the obvious. There is a trust within the Association that this information is kept confidential.

With the internet and search engines like Google it is not very hard to lookup a name and find a possible home addresses. Not really something that I wish floating around on the street.

Just my humble opinion and from someone that has been a member of the 2A community for over 60 years.

All those journals have been reprinted from Volume 1 Number 1 through Volume 26 in four books and I use them from time to time along with a copy of the index available for all contents up to Volume 53. I have the rest of the original publications up to Volume 58. There are no deep dark secrets to be uncovered, but many SWCA member hours, days, months, and years of time and effort put into their publications. They should stay with SWCA members.

Great resource for research on everything S&W. Personally, I would never burn them, but like the idea of passing them on to another SWCA member. Keep it in the SWCA family and not to make a few bucks on them sometime in the future.

SWCA members READ Page 3 of the SWCA Journal Volume 59, Number 1, Spring 2025

READ this page by our President John C. Witty, Jr. He CLEARLY states that the SWCA membership roster should NOT be shared with non-members....He also CLEARLY states that our SWCA Journal should NOT be shared or sold to non-members EITHER...WHAT part of this do you NOT understand??? Roger

Hey Ben...what happened to your post #7? Did you suddenly change your mind about a non member getting these SWCA Journals?
I was talking about the publication with our names, addresses and phone numbers...The journals with the articles I have no problem sharing...Would you not want a non-member friend to read one?......Ben

You did not read my post #12...John C. Witty Jr. current President of the SWCA in the current SWCA Journal states: "Our S&WCA Journal should NOT be shared or sold to non-members either." So therefore to answer your question: I would NOT want a non-member friend to read one...he also states " The information made available to US is for US." This information can be found on page 3 of the current Journal Volume 59, Number 1 Spring 2025...It is pretty clear what John is stating here...

It seems that there is agreement on not sharing our SWCA roster of members but not about sharing the Journals. The OP on this thread isn’t a member of the SWCA and has a number of Journals to sell, clearly the Journals have value. As I tried to say in my recent column, sharing information with fellow collectors is not the same as delivering entire Journals to non members. Membership has its privileges, otherwise why bother joining ? Inviting someone in for a look around is a nice thing to do, handing over the keys and saying help yourself is not a good idea. I hope anyone interested in Smith & Wesson will consider joining our fine Association, the benefits are many and the fellowship is outstanding.
Regards,
John Witty
SWCA President

I think reading these posts about SWCA pamphlets without a security clearance as a non SWCA member that I may be now endangered or in danger of knowing too much, or at least “more than needed”…..and I must now go into hiding because I don’t have the secet magic underwear….:D

If they are so secret how do you know you don't have the secret magic underwear? They could be hiding! You just never know for sure about these things.
Also my first and maybe last use of a smiley!

Ladies & Gentlemen, with all due respect this is begining to border on Secret Society theology here. While I understand with membership certain privileges are bestowed upon prospective members in any fraternity including this forum; there seems to be some air of contradiction here as the intention of this forum is to promote knowledge & foster brotherhood and comraderie in our persuit of All things Smith and Wesson.
It pains me a great deal to say that I have seen a great deal of negativity
regarding this forum in particular on other firearm forums. I hope I am Not Banned as a result of this disclosure, as I mean No harm to anybody But we seem to have a difference of opinion here. I have personally seen the Destructive nature of Honor or Secret Societies and hope that this forum does not erode to that level.
Fraternally, James T44spl
