Older Model 17 ramp sight?

Was out of town, stopped at a gun shop that had cases full of used revolvers. One that hadn't seen before was a model 17 six inch barrel with ramp front sight, never seen that? Guess you could special order curtain things back in the 70s?

Yes, you could. I won't say they are rare but they are not common. I have seen and handled one that lettered. Depending on its condition and price, You might want to go back and investigate it.
